The King of Kindergarten [Barnes, Derrick, Brantley-Newton, Vanessa] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The King of Kindergarten Review: Perfect for my soon-to-be Kindergartener! - This book is absolutely perfect for my four year old who is going to Kindergarten next year. He loves the book, its story, the pictures and saying the quotes in the book that the King of Kindergarten says! I especially love that it’s written to the reader about what they’ll do on their first day at school. I told my son the story’s about his first day and the way it’s written makes him really feel that it really is! I cannot say enough good things about this book! It emphasizes kindness and gets him excited about going to his new school! Just love it!! Review: A great read aloud for young children! - Great story with so much to enjoy. The illustrations are masterfully done and the words rhythmic and inviting. Some of the words are challenging for prek and kinder students, but that's one reason I love it. It's a complex text and doesn't 'dumb down' it's message for young children. A beautiful story of a young boys excitement about his first day of kindergarten and the connections/encouragement he receives from family, teacher, and new friends! Hopeful. Delightful read.

My son's teacher had books on her classroom wishlist! When I took this one to her she was so excited, and she read it to the kids on the first day! It was a hit!!

Get itttttt
Bought this one for my grandson and he really enjoyed it because he saw himself. It’s so nice to see diversity. Even if your child isn’t diverse this is good to share diversity with them. It is well written and fun . The story is really cute and fun to read

It’s fine
Got this for my 5-year-old son who’s entering kindergarten. Since it was highly recommended to me by an expert in early childhood education, I was a little disappointed that so many of the pages had inaccessible “royal” language and references (like a reference to Osh Kosh B’gosh) that I have to stop and explain to my son. I would have preferred a story we could just read together. The boy in the book also gets to bring 2 pudding cups to school and takes naps, which my son’s school doesn’t do. Despite this, my son still enjoys reading it and the whole idea of being the king of kindergarten. It’s also wonderfully illustrated.

Quote from Benjamin Maysat the front of the book says it all. My nephew introduced himself to his FDK teacher by saying “I’m Cassius, the king of kindergarten”!
