Kobunboku is a gorgeously scented incense made from 15 different plant extracts. It is refreshing and aids concentration, making it particularly helpful for meditation practice and relaxation. The Japanese word "Ko" means Nice, "Bun" means Elegant, and "Boku" means Wood or Tree. Kobunboku is an expression of the Plum Tree, and has a sweet smell reminiscent of plum blossoms. Made by Baieido of Japan to a traditional formula, it includes extracts of Agarwood, Sandalwood, Borneo Camphor and Cinnamon. Baieido has dedicated itself to making incense over the last 300 years, the method and recipes having been handed down from generation to generation in an unbroken secret oral tradition. Box contains approx. 250 sticks, each 14cm long Review: this is by far the finest quality incense i have ever purchased. - almost every other brand of incense available at american stores gives me chemical sensitivity allergies but this one does not! the smell is elegant, subtle, long lasting, and well balanced as no one note stands out too much. the lingering smell is just as nice as when it is burning. the box is aesthetically pleasing as well. this is my first purchase from this brand but i don't think i will ever use anything else! Review: Sweet and fragrant - I dove deep into this one as it got good reviews elsewhere and was recommended by ORS as quality. I was not disappointed in the slightest. Baieido is known for a long history of quality incense and these were my first from them. I love to burn this one with the windows open on a warm spring day as it speaks to the flowery scent that I get from these sticks. While not overly complex, it's still nice to have a consistent scent that doesn't offend those that would be turned off by heavier aloeswood or medicinal herb scents found in some other sticks. I recommend this to everyone. Maybe buy a smaller box first to see for yourself before committing to the 250 count though!

Perfect everyday incense
Love this incense. It hits the perfect balance between strong and subtle, so itโs easy to burn anytime of day without feeling overpowering. The scent is clean, calming, and really pleasant.

Different noses
This is a fascinating incense. It seems the chemical receptors inside our noses really are different. At this point I've read quite a few reviews of this incense (here and elsewhere) and many people describe it as delicate, gentle, even sweet . . . And, the other person living in my home seems to experience it this way. He says it's one of the subtlest incenses in our collection, sometimes claiming, as it burns, that he cannot smell anything at all. What he can smell, he describes as an unexceptional sandalwood. I on the other hand experience the scent as, hands down, the strongest in our collection. We've had the box for a few months now, and the scent has grown on me over time. But when I first started burning these sticks, I was so surprised! I experience an acrid, or astringent, element which I think might be medicinal herbs. This element, for me, completely overshadows any sweetness which might exist, and nearly overpowers the sandalwood. I have a very hard time believing other people don't smell this. It really dominates. I have learned to appreciate the complexity of the scent, and at this point genuinely enjoy the herbal/medicinal elements. But I would never, ever ever, burn more than one stick at a time . . . at least not in our small apartment!

Great scent
Great scent. It's sort of woodsy with some spice undertones. Overall, it creates a smell with subtle notes that are balanced well. It's a really great go-to.

Unique scent, very food/ramen smelling to me, but scent is specific to the user
I spend $100's on incense, more like 3 to 5 hundred a year. That said, I've tried as many japanese incense as I can get my hands on and this is one UNIQUE smell, unlike any other I have tried and it's certainly not for me. I've committed it to my stash of outdoor and garden sticks. For me, it smells too foody, like the smell that hits you in a tokyo ramen restaurant, makes me hungry. This is not a scent I want in my house. For both ends of the spectrum, I rely on Hinoki by Nippon Kodo for an indoor, highly focused and stimulating scent like incense cedar and japanese cypress. Not at all floral. For floral happy and peaceful scent, I still prefer SHOYEIDO Plum Blossoms. What's interesting is that the most expensive incense, in my opinion, are certainly not superior. On the other hand, I can't stand the smell of Shoyeido Kyoto autumn leaves, it smells like a burn pile. Moss garden is borderline outdoor only incense as it is pretty bland. Anyway, this is a garden meditation incense for me for now. I doubt I will ever use it indoors again, too foody foody for my taste.
