Not sure. There is no exposed steel on the handle. If i had to guess i would say it is pretty close to full tang.

The blade itself is 18”, the entire machete including the handle is 23 5/8”.

So is there reay a big chip in the blade?

Chip? No. Big nasty burr though. Take a file or grinder to it.
