Replacement Grohe Cartridge for dripping shower faucet
Worked great, same size same fit. Hopefully it lasts 20years like the old original one did.

A valve that wont last
I bought this just 20 months ago, easy to instal and seemed great, now it is stripped again. Who ever makes this must be making a lot of money when it wont last longer than 20 months. The mechanism is truly flawed, it has metal parts working against plastic, and now the plastic is shredded.

Works great
Works great Been using it for about ten years. The original failed after ten years. I had to hunt down the original plans but eventually did and was able to install it myself.

Excellent product.
I had a slow leak from my shower head as many other people here. Just installed this cartridge today. It fixed my problem and I am very happy. I have find that valves that sit on each side for hot and cold water had bad rubber seals. Pieces of it went into the cartridge and probably caused it not to block water flow correctly. Also I could feel some resistance while turning shower handle. With everything clean and new washers on valves my shower works perfect now. Water pressure is much stronger and handle turns with ease. Since I strongly feel that my problem was due to foreign objects in the cartridge I could probably try to assemble everything with original cartridge and see what would happen, but since I already purchased the replacement part I just used it. Also, I want to mention here what a great experience in had with Grohe USA customer service. I purchased a house with system already in place and could not identify the part I needed. Local authorized dealers were totally useless since my system was 20 years old and no longer sold by them which led me to contact Grohe directly by sending them pictures of my shower. Not only they identify the system but also provided me with manual and installation instruction as well as parts reference table. All emails were always answered promptly. Recommend this part to all Grohe owners.

Lasted less than a year
All of the showers in my house have grohe. I had changed out all but one years ago soon after moving in. Finally changed out the last one less than a year ago and that one is the only one that's failed again. It isn't leaking but it just fails to turn the water on or off. Still spins, but notchy. I'll try again

Perfect!
Perfect fit, perfect replacement shower cartridge. Easy to install. Instructions and a small packet of silicone lubricant for the o-rings was included, a plus!

Aftermarket, not Genuine!
Note, this is not a genuine Grohe cartridge, even though the item pictured and product details state it is. If you purchase this part, you will get a lesser quality, aftermarket variant which sells for substantially less. Genuine Grohe cartridges are made in Canada, come in a blue box, are laser etched on the shaft, and come with an instruction's manual, hardware, and grease for installation. The aftermarket versions are not made in Canada, come in a generic box, have no instructions and often lack the grease required for installation. The aftermarket versions also lack the robust build quality and solid engagement you get from the genuine cartridge. Pass if you were looking for a genuine Grohe part.

Perfect fit and function
About 6 months ago I used this pressure balance valve to repair my Grohe shower faucet, that was about 25 years old. I'm happy to say that it was perfect fit, and it functions like new. Is ~$100 worth it? I'd say absolutely--yes. I'm giving it 5 starts all around because if it had not worked, I was facing an expensive project of installing a whole new faucet system. The part itself looks well made, and identical in size & shape to the old valve. The old valve was totally ruined, with bits of broken plastic inside, and there was no change for repair (I did take it apart to check). It looked like the valve failed just from the age of the internal plastic parts. As for installation, I studied videos on YouTube which helped a lot. I'd say that if you are mechanically inclined, logical and a bit patient, you can install it yourself. Physically, it installed with little effort, but it was a but tricky adjusting it to get the full range of temperature control. I hope these comments help you.

I had leaky shower head problem so I googled then found this GROHE replacement. Works well with my GROHE shower valve. No more leaking. Should have bought this three years ago instead of calling plumber to fix another show head in my house. The installation steps are exactly same as Youtube video described. Perfect DIY project for handy home owner. The only thing I noticed was the water flow from the shower head was slower than the original one. Not sure if the Cartridge is slight different design causing that.

The most difficult task associated with the purchase of this cartridge was figuring out which model I required. In my case the fixture was manufactured by a small company with no web site, and the only information I had to work with was the name "Tempress II" on the brass valve body. Information provided on the Tempress web site indicates there are two versions of the "Tempress II" - the more common "TII", and the less common "TIIEF". These two versions use different cartridge styles, and the main distinguishing feature is that the "TII" cartridge has two small pegs on the rear of the cartridge, whereas the "TIIEF" cartridge has two small "wings" on the sides of the cartridge next to the water inlet ports. The cartridge does have a part number molded on its body (which many reviewers here have provided) but that is of little help, since there seem to have been many part numbers assigned to this same part during its manufacturing lifetime. Suffice it to say that if you have a Tempress II valve body, and you are looking for the "TII" cartridge, then Grohe 47080000 is what you need. If you are looking for the "TIIEF" cartridge, then Grohe 47157000 is what you need. There is a very helpful review previously posted here which points out "leaky valve" problems that will not be fixed by installing a new cartridge, specifically (a) water leaking around the shaft of the cartridge where it exits the brass valve body or (b) water leaking from around the sides of the brass valve body. These problems require other fixes, which that reviewer has described in detail. The most common problem people need to fix is that the shower faucet continues to run after being turned to its full "off" position - and replacing the cartridge will solve that problem. Installing this replacement cartridge is straight forward. During installation be sure to (a) apply silicone grease provided with this product to the o-rings on the sides of the cartridge, (b) replace the large o-ring behind the brass cover of the valve body with the new o-ring provided and apply silicone grease, and (c) apply silicone grease to the cartridge shaft where it passes through the brass cover of the valve body.

This cartridge is a replacement for the Grohe 41031275 part. It's worked well so far with a nice bump in the water pressure.
