Thai Sticky Rice Steamer (Basket Only) by Inspirepossible

After living in Southeast Asia for about a year, I fell in love with sticky rice and the process of making it! I was thrilled to get my basket to make my own sticky rice at home while in America. I didn't realize this product came all the way from Thailand until it came in the mail and I was overjoyed to see the label "Chiang Mai." It works wonderfully. In the larger basket there are a few small holes that the rice may fall out of, but considering it is sticky rice, this isn't a huge problem in the steaming process. The small baskets are perfect, just like the ones I used in Laos. Love this! And I love that it's a family company!

I love having lots of different ways to lend various flavors to food. This well made basket is just another way to make sticky rice with more layers of flavor. I was surprised that I could taste the earthy flavor of the basket, I also love clay and Korean granite bowls for the same reason. The basket fits great over my standard steam pot. No need to buy the pot, I am sure most people have a pot that will fit the basket just fine, all you need is steam. Go to youtube and look up how to make rice in these baskets, what a wonderful treat. I have only used it a couple of times, therefore I don't yet know how well it will wear.

My friend introduced me to sticky rice and has one of these (not from here, from elsewhere) and mine is much better quality item than hers is. She says the minute hers is done/damaged/(whatever justification she needs for a new one) she will be ordering one from this vendor. Instructions are obviously roughly translated but if you’re going out of your way to order this, I’d assume you would know how to use one of these beforehand. There was a smoky smell to it but 2 passes in the dishwasher and it was gone. Great product!

This rice steamers works as well as it should, steams rice in about 15 mins. 4 stars because it smells extremely smoky and had to be washed several times before using to reduce possibility of having smoke flavored rice. It was also pretty bent when it arrived, had to re-shape to be able to fit over my pot.

works exactly as you would expect. very solid. was worried about chemicals but it appears to be very clean simple bamboo. love it for stickie rice, who knew you could make sticky rice at home this easy. by the way add some herbs or saffron to the rice while it steams, yum!

I lost my previous basket to mold during a move, so I found this one to replace it. It's well made and fits my pot perfectly. It's a great steamer basket, but shipping can take a few weeks depending on where you live because it comes from Thailand. If you don't mind waiting a little bit, it's a great buy!

I believe there should have been directions to soak basket before first use. It left brown stains on my rice for the first cooking. After that, it has been fine. It is hard to clean all the rice out, but I have started letting the remaining rice harden and flake it off.

The overall quality is great. While packaging the folding thrust came in the middle. To steam rice in it, I would need to use coconut leaf to fill the gap. Also very expensive

The basket is excellent quality, not expensive and an authentic Thai sticky rice basket. The seller even includes a nice note to tell you how to make sticky rice!

Was bought formy Thai daughter-in-law. Is used regularly. Fitted well into pan. Good quality. Value for money

Needed a new basket to steam sticky rice and this fits perfectly my special pot. Quality is great for the price.
