I absolutely love these lights. They are bright, have tons of settings and can plug into each other to make them longer. Easy to pull the sticky off the back and stick them up but the sticky doesn't stick very long so we had to use packing tape.

The adhesive on this light strip won't hold - I attached this light strip to a clean and prepared vertical fiberglass surface using the enclosed primer, and the whole strip fell off overnight. Now they're not reusable, and I wasted hours installing them.

This would be a perfect RGB Led strand if the adhesion would stick. Terrible adhesion, surfaces were properly cleaned and prepped but led lights come off after minutes due to the bad adhesion. Overall the colors and brightness are great, but useless if they can't stick... had to spend extra money on 3m VHB tape to fix. Would honestly give 5 stars if they would fix the adhesion. For now 1 star. UPDATE: Customer service is great, Kevin contacted me and is sending a free replacement. I will update rating and give 5-star if replacement he sends works. UPDATE 2: Excellent customer service. Kevin sent me a replacement. Works great, slightly better adhesion... however, I would still suggest 3M VHB tape for permanent installs. 5-star for customer service, 4-star for product.

I have adafruit's 1 meter rgb string. It also uses 5050 smd led's. Specs are nearly identical to these, yet their white when all three colors are on is actually white. This string makes a really bluish white, and the overall brightness seems to be about half of what the adafruit string's is. Disappointing. That being said, using some PWM, I should be able to tone the blue and make the white more natural, and since it's literally nearly 6x cheaper than adafruit's, I can just parallel extra strings to get the same or more brightness. If price were higher, I would pass. The connectors are 0.1 pitch. Nice for breadboard action. Female on both ends, but one end just has a male to male 0.1 header inserted in it to make it a male end. The adhesive is s***. Literally junk. The adhesive came off WITH the backing. I didn't even get to use it. Pathetic. But... at $17 per 5 meters, that's dirt cheap so I'll have to just use wire staples. No biggie. If you want dirt cheap rgb led strings and don't care about color accuracy (these are really bad--blue is whitish, green is torquoise, and red is pinkish) or overall brightness, then these are for you. If you want a strip with really good adhesive backing, great color accuracy, a great actual white color with all three colors turned on, and incredible overall brightness--get the 5050 rgb strip from adafruit. But beware--it's $25 per METER. $125 vs $17. You get what you pay for but damn, I think I'll deal with the issues on these cheap strips and save my pennies for other junk.

I must be easily fascinated by cool gadgets - because this thing is a ton of fun. The ability to choose any of some 30 different colors and to have them change slowly over time makes this lighting choice very cool. Just pay attention and everything hooks up just like it looks it should and the controller just looks complex. It's actually very easy to figure out.

Ok, after having several sets of these LED light strips I am ready to post my review. These are cheap LED strips, not only the price, but the materials. I do, however like them and the effect they have in my backyard. I've had a couple sets fail within 3 months so I decided to do some modifications. Here's the skinny- 1) It's claimed to have 3M double-face tape for mounting. That's BS! Maybe the 3M referred to is a generic double-face tape, but it's not genuine 3M tape. It has a brown waxy paper backing. GET RID OF IT!!! It will peel off the strip lights very easily. It fails within days in the heat. 2) Another issue with the tape is it doesn't provide adequate insulation to the electrical traces. My strips are mounted to my screened enclosure. It has an aluminum frame. On one 16' strip I have at least a dozen spots of corrosion where electrolysis occurred and caused dead spots of one or more colors. 3) These strip lights are NOT UV resistant. After 6 months on my outdoor enclosure the strip itself is yellowing and the clear coating that is covering the strip is turning cloudy. 4) Something else I found was when I was removing the junk tape- every 10 cut points (where you can cut the strip) was spliced. So, it seems that a 16' LED light strip is made from many 20" pieces. I confirmed this with 4 different strips. Here's what I'm doing- 1) REMOVE THE TAPE!!! The tape came off very easily with my fingers. I got some liquid electrical tape from Home Depot and brushed it on all exposed traces on the backside of the strips. I also bought some Scotch Indoor/Outdoor Mounting Tape (TRUE 3M STUFF). This stuff will hold up to 10 lbs and has much better heat resistance. This is what will hold my strips. It's also thicker than the original junk so it offers much better insulation for the traces.. 2) I bought some 1/2" aluminum angle bar. These are 8' long and 1/20" thick and will provide some protection for the strips. I'll just mount the strips under the bar (on the downleg). We will see in another 6 months. I really like the effect these strips provide and will probably continue to buy them. I'd be willing to pay a little extra for better made strips but I have yet to find them. They all come from the same place. I'll post my results and some pics.

These lights are absolutely stunning. I put them on the bottom edge of my tiki bar roof and it lights it up! The different colors are a great plus, as well as the fades and flash settings it has built in. The light is just right mounted about 7' high illuminating my bar 3.5' tall. If more light is needed you can switch to white or bright blue in color. My neighbors and friends comment all the time on them. It's also easy to install with an adhesive strip built in. I did have to go back on a few spots and glue it where the adhesive failed, but other than that a good product!
