Melitta single serve coffee filters for a perfect drip cup of coffee
We use these single serve coffee filters because they donโt tear, they give a mess free drip every cup of coffee. Our grocery store stopped selling them and we found them on amizon. Our favorite single cup filters.

Single serve reusable coffee with no sludge...
These are great if you don't want the sludge at the bottom of your cup of coffee. I do not use the Java Jig, I prefer my other reusable single serve brew basket/filers. Tip: do not put in the brew cup empty, this causes the paper filter the gap at the sides. I just barely place the center of the paper filter in the brew cup, then add my desired amount of coffee. Next I gently and evenly push it down into the brew cup. Works great. Afterward clean up is a snap. This is exactly what I was looking for and I will purchase repeatedly.

They work as advertised
They work very well and I am happy not to have the fine sediment in the coffee from my Keurig K cup machine. The filters are sturdy and actually thicker than I expected. There is one drawback, which actually may be part of the design. When inserted into the filter holder according to the directions, the filter does not completely fill the filter holder cavity. As a consequence, you can't put as much coffee into it as you would expect. So when using these filters, we only brew the next-to-smallest size cup. I've never actually bought a pre-filled Keurig container so I don't know if the amount the JavaJig holds is more or less than the prepackaged K-cup.

Works great
I had reviewed the java jig itself and it had filters with it, I had to buy this because it was an "add-on" item. I'm glad I did. The filters don't break or leak, no matter how tight I pack the coffee into my java jig. That was a huge concern when I bought this product. I have used up just about all my filters and plan to order more. It's a great price, and I can find it at retail stores near me, I just prefer to order online if I have other purchases to make on this site.

Improvement on the Javajig
Like most of the others listing reviews, I really like the Javajig. I have used the insert Keurig sells and the Ekocup but this is the best option to the K cup that I have found. I do have one possible improvement. I like my coffee strong and the open bottom on the Javajig allows the coffee to flow through so quickly that the coffee is weaker than I would like. I took a used K cup and pulled off the foil top and the filter on the inside. I then cut about 1/16 inch off the top (just below the molded ridge)(a knife works better than scissors), leaving a small cup with the small hole in the bottom, that was punched by the needle of the Keurig. I put the green Javajig cup inside this cutoff cup and used the Javajig as usual. When placing the Javajig in the Keurig, I just turned it so the hole in the bottom aligned with the needle. (It's easier than it sounds). The coffee stays in the Javajig longer and is stronger (like the K cup) than the Javajig alone. You can wash the cutoff K cup and use it over and over.

Good idea, somewhat lacking in execution
This is a good idea that I was very excited to try, but I found that it could be improved on. To start, in this Melita Jig system you have a 4 prong insert that is supposed to hold and stretch the filter inside a green shell, making a k-cup look alike. Unlike the k-cup which has the filter encased in a brewing chamber, this system will leave the paper filter with its bottom exposed during the brew. And that's the source of the problem - you hope and pray that the filter will hold and not burst, spilling its contents all over inside the coffee machine. The way you mount it though puts stress on the paper filter, which for me resulted in a very small tear the first time I put it on (which I thankfully noticed in time). The second time I built the jig I thought I got it right, but upon brewing it turns out I didn't - the paper filter gave way and the coffee grounds spilled everywhere requiring a rather meticulous cleanup of my Keurig's brewing chamber. I eventually managed to get a brew going, but I'll always be fearful of the thin paper filter bursting its grounds everywhere... I learned the hard way that you can't fill the cup all the way up. Coffee expands during the brewing process, so the slightest overfill of the cup (and that is very easy to do...) will put you "over the line" with a burst filter. How much coffee grounds you can put in the cup depends really on the coffee you use - some will expand more than others during the brewing cycle. The main issues I have observed are related to the coffee expanding during the brewing cycle - the needle in the bottom of the brewing chamber ends up punching a hole in the filter, and depending on how big a cup you brew all that extra pressurized water passing through after the hole was punched can and will eventually burst the filter. The other issue is related to the coffee foam - the Jig is by no means sealed, so if your coffee grind happens to be one that foams a lot (like a medium roast vs a dark one), then all that foam will spill over, carrying some ground coffee with it, so you end up with some grinds in the coffee and also have to deal with the cleanup of the brewing chamber. Again, putting less coffee in can prevent this from being too big an issue, but it is there. I like this a whole lot more than the fixed filter solutions like the Ekobrew Cup, Refillable Cup for Keurig K-cup Brewers , because this allows me to use a finer grind of coffee, thus increasing the extraction rate - where the Ekobrew will simply clog and stop working, this paper filter just slows down, but it'll still drip out the coffee. But I can't give it a perfect rating because how one puts together the jig puts too much stress on the thin paper filter, and you never know if it will last or give up (check the other images of the product to get an idea of how the cup is put together).
