( side note .. make sure any air stones are above the gravel .. my powerhead was sucking air through the tube until i moved it ) **Q: Will this work with course sand? Or will it fill with sand?** A: Yes it should work , use an air pump do not use filter motor , you want the water to flow. A motor will create pressure. If you’re concerned about sand filling the tube use a weed blocking fabric.
