Where is this knife made?

No indication on the knife. Appears to be the U.K. https://www.nedfossknife.com/

Anyone know which steel the blade is made from? (I've seen TiN coating on pot-metal, so wonder sbout the blade!)

The blade is a 'mystery steel', from China, of course. Carry everyday. Seemed a little difficult to sharpen. Used a precision adjust sharpening system that finally got it razor sharp. Haven't really abused it much, so can't say how well it holds an edge. Will say that you need to disassemble, lok-tite all srcews, oil hinge, etc. This one has a remarkably smooth action that can be easily flipped open with thumb. Rides comfortably in back pocket for such a large knife. For such an inexpensive knife, a little work has brought this knife right up there to 'wow' level. It's definitely not pot metal.

How well does this knife open one-handed?

You can open it with your thumb guiding the round tab on top of the blade. The tab is close enough to axis of rotation so that it stays within the range of motion of your thumb. It's not necessary a smooth motion (you may need to reconfigure your grip of the knife) but it's as good as can be expected from a non-spring-assisted knife.

After months (or years?) of ownership, do you still recommend this knife?

I've had mine for 2 years a d have really abused it. Being a cheapo knife I've used it as a hammer, a prybar and every way I shouldn't yet it's in great shape. I strongly recommend taking it apart and lock tighting the screws in handle and lubricating the pivot as my handle fell apart the first week but after that haven't had any issues.
