The only thing recommend by Zojirushi for descaling Zojirushi water boilers. The best.
I purchased this along with my Zojirushi CV-DCC50 hot water boiler/dispenser. Specifically because Zojirushi recommended only this be used, and it is made by them. This lasted one year's use. It works exceedingly well in removing/softening our TN hard water scale that accumulates on anything that holds or boils hot water, such as this, coffee makers, etc. Follow the directions in the owners manual, exactly, and you will get great results. Be sure to wear protective gloves and eyewear. Be very careful because you are handling mild, concentrated acid and boiling water. As well as an AC electrical connected appliance that is near water. We refill our boiler multiple times daily and must be vigilant in regularly descaling the pot. Made by Zojirushi for Zojirushi hot water pots. Only thing recommend by then for descaling. Great product by the maker of the best, Made in Japan, small electric appliances. Hands down!

Oh this stuff WORKS!! Buy it!!
My wife is Japanese and her old Zojirushi hotpot hadn't been cleaned since she bought it over 30 years ago. (They do last forever). That thing was gross inside!! This magic cleaner took those hard water deposits off and it looks like new!!!! I was skeptical paying the money for this stuff but glad I did. Hot water/tea actually tastes clean and fresh!

It DOES work!
To be honest, I was a bit scared to use this product because I saw some reviews that said there was a lot of foam and that some of the foam even came out of the boiler's lid. I was worried about that because I didn't want it to get damaged. I was also a bit worried that the product might not get rid of the slight mineral build-up (a bit of hard brown/reddish looking stain) that was on the bottom of the boiler. Certainly, my boiler did not look like some of what the other reviewers have since the water in my city is quite soft. I followed the instructions carefully such as making sure to use a warm cup of water and mix the citrus acid powder together. I poured the mixture into the boiler and filled it up with water. I made sure to use the "cleaning" option (you can do that by holding down the reboil button for a few seconds). You should see two lights blinking and the tiny display screen should show two lines going around in a square. Pretty much this should take almost two hours to complete. I just poured the water out once the lights stopped blinking (I think you can let it soak if you want) and refilled the boiler with fresh water. After the it's done boiling, you just need to dispense a cup of two of water from the appliance and throw out the water again. Then you fill up the boiler one last time, boil it, and you're done! I hope it works for you! This is a solid product that will keep my water clean and I am extremely satisfied. :)

Cleans great, but expensive and time consuming.
Great cleaner for Zojirushi hot water kettle (dispenser? Not sure what to call it). I live in Los Angeles, which has pretty hard water. Bought this after finding out my partner was not using filtered water on refilling it and saw a ton of scale buildup on the inside and bottom, to the point where some of it was flaking off. Watch the instructions online! It's not a simple dump it and go. You have to dissolve it in a cup of warm water, then add the water to the dispenser and set it to clean. It will clean for roughly one hour, at which point you need to dump the water and refill it. Let it get to boiling (~10 minutes) and then pump out a cup of water to rinse it out, then dump and replace the water. I also am not sure if this can be accomplished by using a cheaper citric acid but, given the cost of the dispenser, I opted to pay the Zojirushi price. Seems expensive for what it is, but it works and works extremely well.

Works very well!
I hadn't cleaned my zojirushi water heater once in the time I'd had it (several years), but there was beginning to be some buildup at the bottom and it was causing my tea to have odd hard water particles in it. I tried vinegar which did basically nothing and came across these in my search. WOW, it works well. Years of lime buildup gone in one use. I don't have particularly hard water where I live (and I use filtered water in my zojirushi anyways since the tea tastes better), but if you have harder water and haven't done this in years you may want to do several rounds of this to get back to a clean slate. The instructions were in English and very easy to follow. Basically just dissolve the powder in some warm water then dump it in and fill it up and boil. It's so easy! I'll be keeping these around as a staple from here on so I can run a cycle with this whenever I start getting buildup again. Highly recommend!

Works GREAT !!
I had noticed a tiny amount of scale starting to appear on my Zojirushi 4 L water heater appliance. It completely removed it and after I rinsed it a few extra times just to make sure I didnt leave any of it in my container.... The water tasted fine as always and ive noticed it has actually prevented the buildup from accumulating as quickly as well. Id tried white vinegar in the past and that does work. However my liner on my model is a plastic (unfortunatlely) as I was unable to find one with a stainless inside liner at the time. I found the vinegar to be a tad destructive over repeated usage and im hoping this will ge gentler. Time will tell. But I intrinsically trust a cleaning product made by the same manufacturer who made my water heating appliance. Well... I trust this one anyway. Their products do a better job and do it in such a better made device than any other ive tried in years past. I wont try any other manufacturer for my water heaters for my tea or for a rice cooker appliance ever again. They make the best hands down. Once you buy theirs... You dont go back to former ones. They may cost more but they are far worth the extra cost. No comparisons!! So their "cleaner", i hope, will follow in kind!!

Very effective - Follow instructions all the way
Follow the instructions. It works perfectly. We currently live somewhere with VERY hard water; even the filtered water has lots of minerals. We use this once every 1-3 months (less in the summer months and more in cold weather) and it gets all of the minerals off our Zojirushu water boiler.

Foams and bubbles from the vent
I’ve used this twice and both times, the citric acid mixture causes bubbling and foaming out of the vent. The first time i was alarmed and thought it was user error but it happened upon repeat. The second time i tried it, it did clean the boiler well so that’s why I’m giving this a 3 star. Otherwise i wouldn’t recommend it since it caused a mess and water to spew out and over.

Effective in cleaning the inner pot
Our water boiler had not been washed for many years. I put all 4 packets (4x30g) of the citric acid (dissolved) into the warm water in the boiler and reboiled the water and left it for 3 hours. The water becomes yellowish. After throwing away the water, I took the photo (see attached). The pot of the boiler looks clean as new (up to the maximum line). Excellent!
