Silver Brush Limited 3012S-3/8 Black Velvet Dagger Striper Paintbrush for Watercolor, Gouache, Inks, & Dyes, Size 3/8 Inch, Short Handle

This brush has very long bristles and they are supple, so that it bends very easily. It is a lovely brush if you like little resistance from your brushes.

These are wonderful brushes, although this dagger is extremely soft, so it takes practice. I had the larger version from a set, and after playing around with it, I decided to try the smaller one. Makes beautiful, flowing marks.

I have several Silver Black Velvet brushes that I use regularly for watercolor. I have many brands of watercolor brushes. Silver is my favorite and I've never been disappointed. This is a gorgeously soft and absorbent well shaped brush. I do wish sellers would be better about listing bristle length though. I don't paint large at this stage of my painting journey. Even though the brush is beautiful, I didn't expect the bristles of this 3/8" dagger striper to be 1 & 5/8" long. It behaves more like a mop because of the long length and the soft supple bristles. I have other brands of dagger stripers in 1/4" size and the bristles aren't even close to this length. I purchased this to paint leaves and flowers. This won't work unless I'm going to paint very large flowers. Even though I am familiar with how to use a dagger brush there is going to be huge a learning curve for this particular brush if I can even use it for the size paintings I usually do. Not sure if I can return or exchange it since it's been used. I think this is going sit in my brush cup unused, a sad waist of my precious art money that could have been used on something else. I still gave 5 stars because it is a gorgeous top quality brush, just not what I was expecting.

Brush came in a protective plastic tube, however it came damaged straight out of the package. Disappointing. Other brushes in the order were fine. UPDATE: Once wet, the brush held proper shape and was usable, performance unaffected. Perhaps the seller can change the way the product is packaged for shipping so that the bristles can be better protected. Rating changed from 1 to 4.

Nice size dagger brush for watercolors!

Awesome brush. Great value for a excellent brush.holds a lot of water, keeps its shape and is super easy to use. 3/8’s is the perfect size for my needs and the softness of the bristles is great. I would definitely recommend this brush.

You can't go wrong with Silver Black Velvet brand of watercolor brushes. They are excellent and a great value for the money. They hold loads of paint, are soft, attractive, easy to grip, and well made. Silver Black Velvet are the brand I use the most. I have been painting for over 40 years and know a good brush when I see one.

This brush is lovely but frankly I'm amazed it survived shipping. The bristles didn't have the protective plastic tube you normally see on higher end brushes. Whoever packed the box just tossed it in to rattle around with the other items in the order. The bristles intitally looked pretty banged up when it arrived but the tip formed up nice when I put it in Water. Maybe order it separately so it doesn't come in a box with other things that could damage it.

My wife already had several brushes from this line and this one was requested. Like all of the brushes from this series, they are durable, hold water well and this particular brush is no different. Worth trying, as they are almost as good as sable brushes. Highly recommended.
