Review: I call it "Zap Thingie" and I will never be without it. - Updated Feb 2014 - ****UPDATE 2/26/2014 **** What can I say? I still love it! I have focused nearly exclusively on facial hair over the last year, and what was once a huge and humiliating daily problem has shrunk to something that I can manage completely with a few minutes - no, seriously, a *few* minutes, as in 5 to 7 - a week. Most of the hair is gone or reduced to the point where it becomes pure nit-pickiness, and that includes my upper lip. Whoo -hooo! I do still have two stubborn areas where dark hairs come in, but they are reduced by 80 to 90%. It takes me five minutes to remove them. An occasional, single one pops up outside the "Evil Zone", but I do mean single. Pluck done. (The stubborn areas are interesting. I still stand by what I said about some hairs going blond to nearly transparent - interestingly, they are still as course (i.e., not light and fine like fuzz, but "stand up straight" sorts) as a dark hair. Often when these are plucked they will be light on the top and dark at the root. But the color change makes them very hard to see, which is the point, so who cares? And for some reason they are all on the left side of my face. Go figure.) So lengthy, painful, daily trauma to 10 minutes weekly. That's my review! Absolutely, I would still recommend this, and have, to my sister, sister-in-law, and others. I'm buying one for my daughter. Three observations over the year: one: Patience!!! The hairs didn't grow in a day and WILL NOT be gone in a week. Keep the razor and give it at least three months. Two: if you don't feel anything at all from the light it's not helping as much. Do Not Burn Yourself! but the more zap the more progress. The pain is minimal. And three: do try to use it on short or shaved hairs. It works better. Good luck!! :) **** end update ***** A huge "thank you" to all the people who reviewed this before me and convinced me to buy it. After years and years of fighting with hairs -course, black hairs on my Irish skin, far too many of them above the collarbone- I finally, finally have found something that ACTUALLY WORKS. I have been using this for about four months now, and my hairs are down about 50%. And as an added bonus, many of the hairs I do still have faded to a nearly invisible color! The happiness and relief should be able to be bottled and resold. It does NOT work instantly. The day I got it I tore the package open, watched the DVD and excitedly flashed my first hairs. I wished wished wished they would all be gone the next day! Er....nope. Oh, well!! 😄 So I continued to tweeze & shave. (I have never had the pain tolerance to tweeze my upper lip.) That has been my routine since. Flash once a week (I'm not saying you should do that, only that I do), tweeze lower hairs when I feel them & shave upper ones. But instead of doing this process every single stinkin day (or else!!), I now only tweeze & shave twice weekly, and can even put it off a day if I forget. And as I said, the hairs are much, much sparser. I have still only rarely had the experience of having a tweezed hair "fall" out at the touch of the tweezer, so they must either just simply not be growing back or falling out when I'm not noticing. But I have had it happen a few times. I could name several specific hairs that definitely are GONE. Ok, l haven't seen them in two months. Close enough!! I suspect it will probably be a full year before I am really, truly 99% hair free, with only touch up tweezes and a twice monthly maintenance flash. But, based on what I have seen so far, I have no doubt, after a lifetime of "Oh, geez, not again", I will get there. I am more than willing to be patient! And I have started using it on other hairs around the body, such as armpits and bikini line. Those seem to be reacting even faster than the ones on my face. (If you don't shave a long hair and use a high setting it frizzes up! I don't know if that helps it not grow back faster, but it seems to for me.) I am sorry that it does not work on darker skin. I hope they find a way around that, but until then, the paler you are the better this works. Painwise, the pain is so minimal for me, even on the highest setting, that I'm not going to bother to mention it. I have not had any reactions or burns, although please do be very careful and go slowly when you first start!! Start on level one :) And the DVD is short. Watch it! (Just as a matter of opinion, I don't waste flashes on my legs, as it takes too many of them. I did zap them once, but have limited the rest of my flashes to elsewhere. This let my cartridge last four full months.) I hope that helps! As you can probably tell, I am completely thrilled with this device and would recommend it to anyone.
Review: doesn't accept older model lamps - Although this product really works, my main concern is that it doesn't last very long. My first Silkn Flash & Go came with 2-120,000 pulses lamps, but my gun only lasted 1 year and 10 months!! So I bought this new gun that only came with 1-5000 pulses lamp, and cost a lot more, figuring I would be able to use the lamps from my first Silkn Flash & Go Gun, but to my surprise, even though the gun looks exactly the same, except for the color of it. The new gun would NOT accept the lamps from my old gun, even though it was only 1 year and 10 months old !! The lamps fit perfectly on the new gun, but it wouldn't work on it, it just kept flashing the yellow lights saying to change the lamp!! At first I thought about buying the replacement lamp which has 120,000 pulses for an extra 100 bucks, but then I thought about how my first gun didn't even last the 120,000 pulses of my first lamp!! So I changed my mind and decided not to buy the replacement lamp! This just shows me how greedy this company has grown over the last year and 10 months, so sad!! Update: my Silkn Flash and Go worked for 80 days then it stopped working!! It says that you get 5000 Pulses out of the cartridge, but I only used it 5 times and never even got a 1000 Pulses out of it before it stopped working! The replace cartridge light came on and it won't run anymore! I called the Customer Service and they were very rude and told me I needed to buy another cartridge! I told them I didn't even get 1000 Pulses out of the cartridge that is supposed to have 5000 Pulses, but still insisted that I needed to buy a new cartridge and tried to sell me another cartridge that is supposed to have 120,000 Pulses for $99.00. How am I to believe them if the cartridge that was supposed to have 5000 Pulses didn't even give me 1000 Pulses? This company is a RIP-OFF!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it worked on white , gray or blonde hair?**
A: The Flash & Go uses Pulsed Light Technology and therefore is not suitable for use on dark skin tones. It is equally unsuitable for use on light hair colours for the same reason. Pulsed Light works through absorption and reflection of light, the light will be absorbed by the darkly pigmented hair, heat up and ultimately destroy the root. The skin should be pale and therefore reflects the light of the treatment protecting it from absorbing the light emitted. It is for this reason dark skin is not suitable as it will result in the skin absorbing the light instead and is also why the light hair colours will reflect the light thus not heating the root sufficiently to damage it.

**Q: Does this work for African Americans w/course hair?
Some say they have stubborn hair, but what race, black/white (it makes a difference).**
A: It depends on how dark your skin color is. If you look at some of the pictures of the product there should be some that include the skin color and hair color guide. The flash & go target dark pigmentation. If your skin is to dark or hair to light it will not work for you. I hope this helps.

**Q: does this product work on african americans**
A: Well, I'm a light skin African American and tried on my legs and it burned. I tried underarms and they were more tolerable, no burns but that was only on level one. It did sting like a rubber band snapping your skin, but only for a second. The flash is bright, too bright for the eyes. The color sensor allowed me to use it, not sure why it burned my legs, they are lligher than my underarms. So I'll use it for my underarms for a couple of weeks to see how that goes, then return it as i wouldn't be able to use it any where else on my body. Thankfully the burns aren't severe, just like a little burn you get from a curling iron.

**Q: how often can I use it? Do I have to wait 2 weeks.**
A: I wondered the same thing. In my experience, it takes 2 weeks for a hair cycle to complete, so if you wait, you are able to remove all the hair possible at that time. I don't 'think' it will harm you in any way to not wait 2 weeks (it did not harm me), but you are able to remove more hair at a time if you wait. Hope that makes sense.

### ⭐ doesn't accept older model lamps

Although this product really works, my main concern is that it doesn't last very long. My first Silkn Flash & Go came with 2-120,000 pulses lamps, but my gun only lasted 1 year and 10 months!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEST PURCHASE EVER!
*by T***S on December 9, 2015*

I have spent thousands of dollars trying to rid myself of dark facial hair, mostly on my chin. Just before my wedding, I thought I'd run out and get those few hairs banished forever by electrolysis. Thought it would be one appointment and done. The technician was heavy-handed and it hurt like hell--but it would be worth it to not have those bristles on my chin forever. By the time it was over, my chin was so swollen, I tried to hide my face on the way to the car. It got bigger and bigger, and each place where the needle went it formed a pus-filled pimple that I could hide from no one. Even icing did no good, so I was disfigured for my big day. I have permanent scarring and the hairs grew back. The tech convinced me we were making progress, so like an imbecile I went back; every treatment was followed by a reaction like the first, with the zits healing just before my next session. If there was any lessening of my chin hairs, I can only imagine I'd have looked like Abe Lincoln without them. Then, laser came along---I was told it was so gentle there would be no hint of what I was having done. WRONG. The pain involved was less, but my chin formed the same whiteheads afterward. Everything left me like that except the Yes! shaver (which I reviewed on here also) which I know doesn't give permanent results, but it's been great being as gentle as it is. I saw an infomercial for the Silk'n Flash&Go---thought it was probably just another BS product, but I figure by now I'm in for so much $, might as well give it a try. I read other reviews about darkening of light skin and burn scars--perhaps my poor chin has been through so much, it's tougher than most...? I decided to go with the cheapest version--that is, with fewer pulses--because if it didn't work, why would I care if I got 5x as many zaps for the buck? I have used it only on high--you do get a light scent of burning hair--but, there appears to be no char. The way this (and all laser removal) is supposed to work , the dark hair is to generate the energy down to the root to destroy it. From tweezing (or other temporary fixes), the follicle curves, making that more difficult for the beam to get to the root. Plus, at any given time, there are active hairs and hairs that are thinking about growing back---so it's hard to know just how many you actually have. There is no good time to allow them all to gain active status--OMG! With laser treatments, you're only getting the active hairs lased. That goes the same for paying somebody for treatments, or with the Silk'n Flash&Go. Most of us with any sort of facial hair have given it hell already---so, results are spotty, and the tech will tell you why every time you return. It's not her fault, it's your hair's fault. $$$$ and there's a good chance you're always going to get a little bit of regrowth. Then what happens is you get a few years on ya and those dark bristles come in white. No laser--not the pro models or this device or anything--works on white hairs. You think they're invisible being white, but their reflective qualities make them just about as bad. Electrolysis is the only current (no pun intended) method that works on white hairs. The good thing is that they're usually like wire, so you can readily feel them and yank them out with a tweezers. Facial hair just plain is what it is: a life sentence--finding anything that works at all is cause for celebration---and this one works. As with most devices, there are tweaks you learn with use---that's why I'm writing this: one of those tweaks has made all the difference in the thrilling success I've had with the Silk'n Flash&Go. Maybe this won't work for you who who think you've burned your skin with the this device. Being that you don't char the hair, the dot on the top of the follicle remains. It makes sense that the hair below that point, charred or not, will remain in the follicle. The directions say not to overlap the area you treat---that area is about an inch wide by 1/2 an inch high. I have had no problem with overlapping leaving any mark at all. I use my Silk'n Flash&Go before I shower, then I use my Clairsonic over the treated area. I think this clears that dot out of the top of the follicle, allowing it to heal better and more quickly. Since my very first electrocution 35 years ago, my chin has never looked as good as it does now. I am sure part of my problem with my chin healing has been running my fingers over the area in search of any embarrassing errant bristle. You introduce bacteria and oils into a field of tiny open wounds, you're going to have problems. If the bane of your existence is some dark chin hairs, I know the pain of being out somewhere or on a plane when you detect another hair that seemed to sprout and grow in minutes. I have no idea if this product works on expanses of leg or chest hair, or will clean up that bikini area for you. This is the only product I've found that produces results without messing up the area for an extended period of time. I recommend buying a unit with a lower number of pulses to save some $ while you find out if this will work for you or not. Since this is the equivalent of sliced bread to me, I will be ordering the higher replacement light and using it on my big toes, which is about my only other problem area. Just wanted to add an update about this product. The Silk'n Flash&Go's effectiveness has literally changed my life. Without hair removal irritation to deal with, I have developed a skin care regimen that works for the first time ever. All the bumps and turned-out pores are gone and my skin actually glows. My self-esteem is higher than since before I went through puberty. You may want to say I put way too much emphasis on my physical appearance, which might be so. Now that I have no coarse black hair on my face, if a white one sprouts, I can see it immediately and yank it out. There is no laser technology at this time that generates heat through white hair. It is not a detraction specific to the Flash&Go. This is the best purchase I have ever made for myself.
