## Overview

The Gerber Gear Ding-Dong Breaching Tool is a rugged, multi-functional tool combining a forged hammer head, pry bar, and battering ram into one compact design. Featuring a machined cross-hatched hammer for superior grip, a durable molded fiberglass handle, and a MOLLE-compatible carrying system, it’s engineered for quick, efficient door breaching and tactical versatility.

## Description

A sledgehammer. A battering ram. A pry bar. All three are essential breaching tools for operators who need to get through doors quickly. The Ding Dong combines these three tools into one tight package. The enlarged hammer head features machined cross-hatching that effectively bites into doors and other surfaces, minimizing slip and maximizing impact. The enlarged pry bar at the end of the handle is perfect for wedging into door frames.

Review: Good fun. Bought on sale. - Haven’t used it for door breaching. Hope I never have to use it for its real intended purpose. But I have smashed a very large ceramic item. Also a large subwoofer box. It’s very sturdy and heavy. Not unusable heavy, but perfect weight imo. I’m sure this would breach a door fairly easily. I bought it just to have it “in case”.
Review: Worth the high price - I bought this to use to replace rotten boards on my deck. This thing is amazing! I was able to use is as a battering ram from underneath without touching the good boards. A common sledge hammer and pry bar would damage adjacent boards. Worth it's price in saved wood.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can it cut log**
A: It is half tomahawk and half axe. Not quite either one. It can cut a log but your hands will be aching pretty bad from using it to cut a log. It can tear open doors pry open drop doors and vehicle hood and trunks/boots. I even buried mine in a guy's head once and it went straight through the top of his head, out his bottom jaw and into his sternum. But using it to do anything but breaching and killing is not advisable, it really is just a raid and murder tool after all. I would suggest buying a small hatchet if you are needing to baton camp fire wood or an axe for splitting logs and copping down trees. Search for "camping axe" or "camping hatchet". Tomahawks are for slaying people.

**Q: Is it made in China?**
A: The box it came in said it was made in USA. But no where on the tool itself is it stamped. I bought a Gerber knife also and it was marked Made in CHINA on that box.

**Q: Does anyone carry this as a breaching tool on duty? i'm an leo looking for feedback on it's usefullnes as a breaching tool.**
A: Speaking from the perspective of hiker/downrange type person, the lightweight features might not be suited for dedicated breaching where a heavier tool would. It definitely has all the attributes of a breaching tool but you would need to use more muscle power to overcome a shorter lever or lighter striking weight. Decision on how far do you intend to carry the tool and how often you would need to apply it against heavy objects

**Q: How good is this for 1st responders?**
A: I have been a paramedic for 8 yrs. I own one of these. It is an awesome tool! I must admit though that I have only used it twice at work. Both times I used it as a pry tool to open a problematic side door on an ambulance. I own the gerber down range tomahawk too and had it on hand as well but choose the Ding Dong because it required a lot of force to pry the metal door open and I was afraid I might bend the slimmer tomahawk. It worked great! Outside of work I used it once to help my fiancé. She was moving out of her house to move in with me and she locked herself out of her place. Again I used the Ding Dong as a pry tool to open the door. It easily pushed the door open. I was able to gain access to the residence without badly damaging the door frame. The hammer end is great too. Only really used it smash up a lot of no good old furniture though. The handle rings are great and do help you to not slip. The cuts in the hammer head do give it some bite but don't expect it to just rip chunks out of whatever you hit.All in all, I think it is a great entry tool for light to medium doors. Heavy duty doors and especially thick metal doors will probably give you some trouble and take more work/effort. Be careful trying to beat in something ridiculous solid. I took a swing at a piece of solid old school wood for furniture, a dresser, and it bounced off and damn near hit my head. I felt the handle touch my hair. Could have cracked my skull. So be careful, you can tear down house walls and can bust rocks and cinder block with it but it is not the hammer of Thor.I think it is a great entry tool. If you are PD or do a lot of door breaching it is awesome. As a paramedic I really don't do any door breaching at all. If I did this would be a "go to" tool. Most days though, it sits on the floor of my truck or ambulance and is just a fun "overkill" tool for simple tasks.
