I am beyond my Prime, but nevertheless this new Innoteck 5m extension lead (in black) arrived less than 48 hours after ordering. I was pleasantly surprised at its feel of quality - from its thick power lead to 4 protected 13-amp sockets, each with its own rocker illuminated switch so individul appliances, etc. can easily be switched off as required. The sockets take the plugs with ease and hold them well, and there are two USB charging ports with their own on/off switch. The whole unit is surge-protected and has a feel of quality; it comes with two holes through its body for affixing to a wall. (My only suggestion for a very tiny design improvement, might be for the two holes for screws/bolts be slightly modified at its base so that the unit can be hung on hooks if the user doesn't want to drill holes for screw fixings.) Excellent quality & value and is highly recommended.

Well built, solid, individually switched sockets, USB sockets, surge protection, available in various lead sizes,... all much as expected on a quality product. However, this particular brand of extension socket is unusual because it has drilled-through mounting holes. Most extension sockets these days have the keyhole design cutout on the back where you put protruding screws into the wall then slot the unit onto the screw heads. If you have tried to do that, you will know how difficult it can be to get the screws in exactly the right place and with just the right amount left protruding, and how they tend to get pulled loose over time when plugs are pulled out of the extension. This design is different because it has two insulated and isolated screw holes which go all the way through the unit and which can be used to screw the block very firmly to a wall or the back of a desk, for example. This makes it very much easier to permanently fix the block.

Not the best quality materials or the smartest looking unit I have come across but this is to be expected for the relatively cheap price. It looks like it will do what it is supposed to. The unit has five on/off rocker switches on the top surface - four for the regular UK 3-pin plug sockets and one for the pair of USB sockets - all very handy for my purposes, I can switch items individually on or off as required without having to unplug them. Sockets that are ON display a red light, all very clear and straight forward. I found the plug sockets rather tight to use, you really have to apply some force to get plugs to fully engage in the sockets but at least there's no chance of them working loose. This could be important to some users. A cautionary note: be aware that if you are needing to insert larger than average plugs (i.e. "bricks" for certain computer equipment for example) then this may well restrict access to neighbouring sockets as there is not a great deal of space between them. On the back of the unit there are two screw holes to allow for mounting on a wall or other surface (see photo with ruler for a visual guide to size and position of these mounting holes). The cord length is good and overall the dark colour is less obtrusive than standard white extension leads. On balance this seems like good product that I would recommend. I was originally looking for a 4-gang extension lead but am pleased I bought this one with the USB sockets as well. Hopefully these will perform as expected and keep working - I see some reviewers have reported that the USB sockets stop working after a while. We shall see! So far I have successfully charged a Kindle, I've not had a chance to do more than that yet.

Seems to be very well made. Individual switches have a good positive action. Key selling point for me is the through screw holes which enable really strong wall fixing, ideal when often changing what is plugged in.

I want more of these. I have install plug sockets with USB connections but to remain flexible you need these. Essential. I have used this in the UK, Thailand and Qatar and back to the UK. You need one this in your life!
