It is alot more noisy than my orginal charger, is that normal ?

Yes it was very noisy mine was the same I've since changed to a better battery and charger

I have an S1 Motocaddy , says class 2 battery charger on mine 12v . is it compatable?

Look at the connections I based my decision on that and it charges the battery well.

Does this automatically turn to a trickle charge, so is safe to leave on long term?

Yes. I leave mine on whilst I’m doing other things and it will show a green light when charged and stops, which is audible, as the fan can be heard through charging.

Will this work on the S5 Motorcaddy?

yes, i think so, but please check:1, if the connector size is the same as yours, 2, if your battery is 12V lead acid battery. if yes, it will work.
