World of Reading Avengers Boxed Set: Level 1

**I'm going to post the same review on both Avengers/Marvel World of Reading book sets. My 3 year old is really into being read to, and we bought this and the other Marvel level 1 set in hopes that he could grow into them and pick up on the words. BOTH book sets have the same Iron Man book, but there are no other duplicates. Also, these tell actual (simple) stories unlike some other "step into reading" sets - we have the Cars Step Into Reading set and it's all super simple sentences on each page, and each book of that fits a basic theme, whereas each book in this World of Reading set is focused on telling you a story about a character. I would definitely recommend these books to parents of a young child who loves superheroes!

I love how simple and engaging the stories are. My daughter wanted to read these all the way through because they are interesting. They are also simple enough that an early stage reader can read with a decent flow.

Exactly what I was hoping for! These are the thin 32 page World of Reading Level 1 books. I received 6 books in a cardboard case with handle and velcro closure (plus a free eBook that I haven't tried to get yet). These books individually cost $3.99 retail and often I can't find them for much less, but I only paid $8.32 for all 6! I was concerned b/c the product info had nothing about which books were in this package and it says for 6-8 year olds. My 3.5 year old boy loves these World of Reading Level 1 books and thankfully this was exactly what I was hoping for. I had no clue if we were going to get ones we already had, but luckily we didn't. This is what you'll get: Ant-Man, Black-Widow, Falcon, Hulk, Iron Man, and Hawkeye. These are simple books that explain each character. Great for toddlers and kids learning to read!

great set! my budding readers like to help with certain words. No major story lines, but interesting enough info for them to read multiple times. My 5 year olds love them, and my 8 year old even enjoyed them as quick reads. Daughter LOVES the black widow one. She started wearing black every day after reading it a few times. : ) I personally like these better than the phonics-focused ones. Books are thicker than many of the box set books I find. I'd imagine them costing about $4 each if sold separately.

Kid loved it

I bought this book set to encourage my 5yr old son to read story books. He reads well but has no motivation to read lots of story books on his own...Until this book set... He took the set of books went to the dining table, sat down and read each of them one by one. In the background there was noise, his siblings were playing and the TV was blaring but he did not even look up. He sat in that spot till he finished all six books then he started reading some of them again. I honestly cannot tell you how shocked i was...i wish i had given him one at a time so i could have spaced out the books over one week :-) ... I honestly don't know what it is about the books...it's probably the fact that each little book tells the history behind each of the super heroes so I think that must have been intriguing because he later narrated the stories to me on how Hulk, ANt-Man etc got their powers/became super heroes. I'm definitely ordering the other box sets for him. He stiill takes one or two of them to bed with them and hides it under his pillow! Thanks Disney!

Our 5 year old son loves these and will happily get them out to read to us.

Great learning to read books.

The books comes in a neat box which can be used to store them away as a boc set. Everything meets the expected quality and is great for level 1 readers and even for parents who have to read the same book more than 1000 times. My 5 year old avenger fan is super happy with all the books that now i have to buy the remaining super heroes missing in this combo. It would be useful for other avenger fans if all the character books are included along with this set.

Great collection of early reading material. The price per book is very reasonable and much better than what you have to pay for each individual booklet - with some of the books in the box hard to find. Moreover it leaves us with a stock to drip-feed to our son. Our five year old son is at an age where there is nothing better than discussing and playing super heroes with his school friends. I never really got into it and don’t care much about modern day super hero movies. But he’s just fascinated, talks about nothing else while gathering knowledge about these, to me exotic heroes like Hawkeye and Iron Man . For guided reading at home I ordered a couple of the single World of Reading super hero books a few weeks ago. And he obviously loved them. I must admit it’s a very clever concept and a great motivation for him to spend some time with books. In fact I would have loved it at his age if I could learn how read from such well-presented stories about my favourite characters in attractive, colourful books. The stories are straight forward but make sense and teach your child the key characteristics and abbreviated back ground of each super hero, which is of great interest to our son. It is helping our son to read, although I must say he reads these books so many times over that he remembers the text by heart. Each book has a very clever back page that show a range of covers of other books in the series, for which our son has obviously been begging us. We now hand him a new books from this books as a reward for proper participation in swimming or martial arts classes. The next purchase might be a few loose booklets again about some of his missing charracters liek Black Panther or Thor. To conclude; this is a highly recommended cost-efficient box with 'powerful' content, very warmly received by our little bookworm.
