They are a low quality cotton muslin type of cloth on the outside, and a thin layer of foam rubber in the inside. They are pretty colors. After about a month if daily use, my 12 inserts have shrunk, and needing to be doubled up - but I really feel the company needs to revamp this design somehow. I have switched over to the Bembika bamboo layers. They keep my baby drier, and she seems to find them more comfortable. These inserts dry much quicker, the bamboo takes at least twice as long. The quick drying time is one of the best things about these inserts.
