I attached the power to one of the Ford auxiliary switches so I can shut it off when it is not in use. From the receiver on the back window to the transmitter (sender) inside the fifth wheel all metal hitch pin box and it works every time. The sender is inside that pin box and is connected to the parking lights for power. If the lights are not on from the truck, through the pigtail, then the sender is not on either. This setup allows me to connect my fifth wheel as usual with out having to think about an additional connection for my camera. It works flawlessly. I did have to buy additional connectors like a barrel RCA connector and also a BNC connector for my camera, but each camera and monitor connection is different and not all use RCA connectors. I am very happy with my purchase. Make sure you connect all the Red wire pigtails to a 12 volt power source or this will not work. The receiver has no ground wire and can ground through the RCA shield. The sender has both a hot and a ground and both must be connected. When wired correctly this also supplies power to the camera. Review: Do not use scotch lock connectors. Too finicky with small wires - Works so far. I parked my truck 30 feet away from the trailer and still had a picture. The transmitter is pushed up through the dome vent in the enclosed trailer. The receiver is behind the radio in the dash. The tx is wired to the reverse light, and I have the Rx wired to a micro switch on my dash. So when I put my car in reverse I have to turn the Rx on manually. No big deal. Gets the job done. I could take apart my entire console and put a shift switch on my reverse gear, or probe every wire till I find the reverse light activation wire, but that's just too much, maybe when I take it apart next time for something else I'll hardwire it for automation. Picture isn't as clear as I would like (more than likely signal saturation from other sources in the city as well as a cheapy camera) but for the price I'm not complaining. I do think the camera wires on the Tx side could be a little longer. I was planning to mount the unit behind the interior panel as high as I could, but had to mount it lower in the trunk and it's visible. The higher you can get the antenna, the better.
