Grimm Fairy Tales explores a much darker side of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales. These timeless stories have been re-imagined in this red hot series and are delivered with shocking and horrifying twists. Beauty and the Beast, The Three Little Pigs, Miss Muffet, The Juniper Tree, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff are collected in this volume. Collects issues #13-18 of the mega-hit independent series, complete with a new Grimm Fairy Tales short story published here for the first time. Review: Best original comic in recent memory - Okay right off the bat I have to say that the "Grimm Fairy Tales" series is he most original independent comic I have read in a very long time. The artwork is GORGEOUS. There's plenty of eye candy which I suspect is mainly in here to help deliver the moral stories. Seeing as how most people now a days don't like moral stories, you gotta disguise it under something. Using hot women works well in this series. The story is quite simple, a beautiful immortal woman named Sela teaches people life lessons using a book of fairy tales. She shows them right from wrong using whatever fairy tale applies to the situation and lets the person decide what to do. This is volume 3 so by now you should be familiar with the premise. In this volume we see Sela losing her shiz. She's tired of showing people right from wrong. She begins to feel it's a waste of time and that not enough people are listening. So she begins to punish people herself, like in the 3 little pigs section of this volume. Of course I won't spoil the rest of the details but she is then shown that fighting the good fight is not futile no matter how much it may seem to be most of the time. We are also shown a bit of Belinda she's the evil immortal woman that uses fairy tales to punish people and further her own goals. More is revealed about her as the series goes on in the other volumes. This comic is NOT for people who are looking for a full plot of every fairy tale. Go read the real Brothers Grimm Fairy tales collection if your looking for that. Here the fairy tales are brutal and beautifully drawn. They are short and to the point which I think is awesome. If you're thinking about getting into this series go ahead and pick up the first couple of volumes to give you a feel for what the series is about. You will not be disappointed. Review: The series keeps pulling me in - I like the stories they were crazy good

Sela, character development
I own the third printing of the volume, which has a different cover of Sela on black background , three little pigs walking on a bridge, a monster under the bridge, the juniper tree which is connected to the beast and a spider . The cover actually tells you the stories inside the book. Beauty and the beast ( great twist on this, not happy about the artwork ), three little pigs ( shows for the first time Sela powers and how she transforms three bad guys in the pigs ), Little miss Muffet ( great artwork on this one, tells more about Sela , however i find the historical references to Hitler or Charles Manson totally irrelevant in a Grimm Fairy Tales comic...), The Juniper Tree is about a psycho mother and gets you back a little to previous format of the series , the same as the last one does Three Billy Goats Gruff, about bullying in our times and about a hero boy in fairy tale which fights a monster ( the one under the bridge , yes ) in order to defend his sister. Entertaining, very fun read, cleaver and sometimes little slacking, but hey, way better than the series is now. Great cover gallery by Al Rio ( R.I.P.) , which the white cover printing doesn't have it. I did enjoy it.

Love This Series!
I Love the Grimm Fairy Tales series. If you’ve never heard of them, think of them as the original, darker pre-Disney fairy tales combined with Tales From the Crypt. There are a lot of stories in this series of people getting their just desserts for bad behavior or learning tough lessons. Volume Three is just as good as the previous collections, and delves more into our heroine, fairytale justice delivering Sela. I adore Sela, and she becomes a more well rounded character in these issues, someone who wonders if she’s really making a difference. I highly recommend this volume but definitely check out the first two first if you haven’t already!
