Simply Blows Apple's $40 Smart Cover Out of the Water! WAY OUT!!!
I'm comparing this case to my experience with about 10 other plain cases I either own or have owned, as well as my favorite "Keyboard" Cases, such as: Previous Targus Versa View 360 for iPad 3 ($99 at the time); Zagg Folio Keyboard for iPad 3 ($99) Logitech Keyboard / Stand Combo ($59); New Trent Airbender Air ($56) and New Trent Airbender 2.0 ($69). Bear Motion slim Keyboard case w/ detachable keyboard for Air ($29) All of which have very respectable reviews - and all of which I could be reasonably happy with. After growing up a technophile and studying computer science at University of KY, my technology gadgets mean the world to me. Not only do I use them professionally but also for many numerous recreational activities and personal study projects. I grew up using Windows everything until the iPhone came out. The rest is history. I won't be going back anytime soon. I love the iOS environment, have always loved iTunes for organizing and playing my MP3's. Now I also love OSX and the awesome compatibility and iCloud advantages across my iPhones, iPads and iMac... Makes life amazingly smooth, easy and complete! As far as keyboard and case accessories for the iPads and iPhones, I believe the best possible fit to your lifestyle and requirements is the absolute most important decision you can make after investing in the already inflated prices of Apple products. I love to save money as much as the next guy, but I would never advise anyone to skimp on their case(s). Choosing the right case is every bit, if not more important than choosing the right tablet! THIS PARTICULAR CASE: I keep at least 5 or 6 cases on hand for my iPad Air. I stuck with one favorite on my iPad 3 (a Targus Versaview 360 Keyboard folio case for 2 whole years. It never had the Auto Sleep/Wake feature when opening/closing... and as far as I knew only the Apple Smart Cover could do that.... Boy was I wrong. And believe me, you'll never want to go back to a case or cover that doesn't have that feature once you have tried one out that does!!! I've got at least one other simple, slim leather case for my iPad air that is supposed to have the auto sleep/wake feature but I've found it only works about half the time, and if you want it to work about 90% of the time, then you have to stretch the attached elastic band over it to keep it closed nice and tight, the it usually works, but still, not ALWAYS. This particular case works noticeably better than other cases in this regard, I believe because of the great magnets already built in to it for holding the Origami positions solidly where you want them. It works like a dream in both portrait and landscape positions, then angles are optimal for anywhere you'd be setting it on a hard surface, such as a table, desk, shelf etc. This case adds VERY little weight or thickness to your iPad Air, looks elegant compared to a lot of cheap plastic looking cases you see (even ones with high reviews on Amazon), It functions exactly like an Apple Smart Cover, plus you have protection for the back of your Air, plus multiple landscape AND PORTRAIT positions now available, very quality feeling and looking... I can't say enough good about it. At under $10, you have to get this thing to have on hand for those times you don't need your much heavier, uglier keyboard case cramping your style! The only room for improvement I can see would be to have some kind of latch to keep it from flopping open if you drop it or something... it lays naturally flat and nice, but there me be times you would need a latch. Also, I love to use a stylus, so a place to put your stylus would be nice... other than that this product is a killer and at this price, it might as well be free! So do yourself a favor and add one to your collection for less than Wal-mart wants to charge for a dang stylus!!!!! Great work rooCASE!!!

This is a solid case. My main reason for buying it was the portrait stand option for reading. The case achieves this pretty well. It is not very sturdy in this mode but unless you move to a much bulkier case you won't get sturdy. This mode is fine for what I want, reading on an airplane. It is also pretty comfortable propped in your lap. In the landscape the case holds the iPad admirably, very sturdy with two fold types to choose from. It may be user error but I can't seem to get the typing mode to hold up well at all. Not a deal breaker as I don't use it this way. The case provides reasonable protection while keeping everything slim. It adds noticeable weight to the iPad Air but you should expect that from a full coverage case. Fit and finish is high quality. The lip on the right side is magnetized and helps keep the cover in place when closed, this is a very nice touch. At this price point (9.99 at review time) you can't go wrong. I would expect to pay more for this quality.

great case and a steal at this price
OK long time amazon buyer but first time reviewer. At least I don't remember doing any but I have been shopping on amazon for so long I may have been enamored at one time and wrote a review if so don't shoot me for stating I have not. I am writing this review because I am sure there are other iPad air owners who are combing through these reviews only to see nothing but reviews for the iPad mini version of this case. So I just received the air version of this case not more than 15 minutes ago and will share my first impressions. The build quality is top notch the first thing I said upon opening the package was "wow this is a really nice looking case". It differs from the iPad mini in that it has a hard shell back that snaps onto the iPad where I noticed the mini has the wrap around leatherish style. I have had those type of cases and found them to be cumbersome if you play games on the iPad which I do a lot. the fit is perfect and the iPad is secure and protected well. I have owned every version of the iPad except the 4 and have had numerous cases for all of them. This one is very unique and in a good way. The origami folding is really nice in landscape mode for watching movies and the such. In portrait mode it is functional but may not be ideal for a lot of people. It only has one angle that can use in this way and it is at like a 40 degree angle to the flat surface it is sitting on. So if you are above it by a good amount say standing in front of it on your kitchen counter it is perfect but sitting down at a table with it say chest high it is pointing towards the ceiling too much to really be of much use. This not a deal breaker at least not for me I mainly will be using it in landscape mode and the few times I do use it in portrait mode it is usually an app I am working in that requires interaction with the iPad and the position it is will work well for this. If you are just viewing in portrait mode it may not work but honestly i cant think of too many scenarios I don't use landscape for viewing videos or photos and things. So if you are an air owner and are wondering about this case it gets a thumbs up from a rather picky iPad owner and for the price is an incredible bargain. Its very sleek and thin and yet stylish at the same time. Good job roocase I am impressed 8)
