A vampire is on a murder spree in Sin City in this Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton. When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City’s local authorities what they’re dealing with. Only it’s worse than she thought. Police officers and one executioner have been slain—paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where’s she’s joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward hiding behind his mild-mannered persona. It’s a good thing Edward always has her back, because, when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses “tiger” too strongly to ignore it. And the weretigers are powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone very powerful the wrong way just got a lot higher… Review: Another fabulous read by Laurell K. Hamilton - I have read and enjoyed the whole Anita Blake series. In fact this is actually the sixth time I've read the whole series. Every time I get a friend to start reading it U begin the series all over again. I find U really enjoy it again and it helps my friends when we have lunch and they can discuss parts about the story or about Anita Blake they missed or didn't understand. Anyone reading this review try the series it's a great/must and enjoyable read. You may read other reviews about Anita Blake saying it turns into to much sex. Hold up people did you not read that she's a form of succubus, that's what it means. But the vampire hunting, zombie raising, honor and justice of Anita Blake remains the same. Reading through to the last book you'll understand the plot and agree with Ms. Hamilton that the story line is strong from beginning to the last book. If in the middle of the series you begin to agree with a few of the reviewers that it's all about the sex or to much sex, then like them you don't have what it takes to read A GREAT SERIES, from a GREAT WRITER. Review: LKH - I am rereading every book in this series that Laurel K. Hamilton wrote and it still keeps my attention throughout the whole storyline.

Not As Good As Some Of The Others But Still Worth The Read
I've been reading the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series since it came out and for the most part I've loved it. There have been one book here and there that hasn't made the cut at least to me and I hate to say it but this is one of those books. After 17 books in this series, you have to imagine that not all the books are going to appeal to everyone. This one starts out much like the other books in this series do. Anita is The Executioner in this book and is tracking down a serial killer vampire, Vittorio. She is joined in Las Vegas by her friend Edward AKA Ted as well as Bernardo and Otto Aka Olaf. I was ready for a wonderful book full of mind blowing sex, plenty of action, great dialog, camaraderie, suspense, as well as the great characters Asher, Jean-Claude, Micah and the rest that we are familiar with. Instead I got some weird interaction between Anita and Olaf, which for the record I did not like. Olaf is a serial killer and makes Anita nervous but she was also strangely attracted to him. There was very little sex and one time when it did happen Anita goes to sleep next to two men and wakes up after having an orgy in her room with no memory. There was no flashes of memory to tell us what happened during said orgy, so we didn't get a glimpse into it at all. But when she wakes up she finds that she had a 16 year old boy in her bed. That I found quite disgusting. The book was long, 486 pages long and I'd have to say that less than half was even good. I would love to see Laurell K. Hamilton write the way she did when she first started this series. I miss the hot erotic sex scenes all through the books, I miss the action scenes where Anita is kicking ass and isn't tired of killing the bad guys. I really want her to get back to the main characters and back into her relationship with them. I want to see more Jean-Claude, Asher, Micah and Jason. As well as the other men she is having a relationship with along with them. Will this short fall with this book keep me from reading her next book? No, I have become a fan of the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry Series and I will keep buying and reading the books probably until the series ends because most of the books are really good.

The other reviews are way too harsh
I have read all of the Anita Blake series and, while I admit the ones in the middle of the series were more about sex than about plot, this one is the exact opposite. There is a lot of plot to this one with some new and creative metaphysical story lines in addition to an awesome and unexpected ending. I have to admit that you have to know the series to understand the ending of this book and its implications, but that is the only weakness that I see - that it does not stand alone very well - but then, in the face of a series, perhaps that is not so important. Of note, some of the criticisms I have seen about "crunchy goodness," etc., I would remind anyone who has never written a book before that EVERYONE has SOME things in their books with which ANYONE can find fault, but that does not give one a good reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. I have never taken the time to write a review before so obviously I feel strongly about this one. Way to go LKH with a wonderful return to story line and plot development with "SKIN TRADE." I certainly hope there are more Anita Blake books to come as there is much to learn about the new characters introduced in this one as well as I am DYING to read more about the true blue and faithful characters like Micah, Nathaniel, Richard, Jean-Claude, and Jason to mention a few.

Anita and Truth
Anita's on a bloodthirsty vendetta, chasing down the vampire that slipped through her fingers like a supernatural game of cat and mouse, all while untangling a metaphysical magical Gordian knot that would make even Houdini throw up his hands in defeat.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
I LOVE THIS BOOK! As I do all the others in this series. Its not in the same catagory as some of those sappy, redundant novels you find today. Though this book is part of a series ,enough info is given about the characters that it is just as good read independently . Once you read this one though you will probably end up reading all of them. This is the perfect fantasy book for those who love great sex, action, fantasy, and lots of men, that is written for women, not girls. Also, this price cant be beat. I cant buy a used paperback for this amount. Im on a trial of Amazons Prime program. In the couple weeks Ive been on the program Ive already paid for half the program with my savings on s/h. The book arrived in perfect condition and on the day stated, exactly as promised. I couldnt be more pleased with this book , Amazon, and their Prime program.

Excellent read
Wonderful book - wonderfully written as are all of Hamilton's books, really gives you the feel of being there with Anita, or just listening to her narrate her own life - very casual, but charged with energy. I only have one complaint about this book - usually the ending does a very good job of tying everything together, but there are two aspects of the story, that come up repeatedly, but are never resolved - I'm sure they'll just pick up in the next book or something like that, but it did throw me a little bit, because it seemed unlike the writer's usual style. absolutely LOVED it though. If you know you love the series, grab this book, but be careful when you start reading it! I started on a school night when I had to be up at 7am the next morning, and didn't notice time passing until the clock said 3 am...I did this with the last book too, so if page turners suck you in, be forewarned to sit down with plenty of time to be sucked in!

out of the ordinary
ANITA FANS PLEASE READ!!!! I've loved every Anita Blake novel for different reasons. I'm not a reader that "expects" an outcome, my outcome, to be written. I am a reader that enjoys the character for every flaw, every positive characteristic that they have. If you are reading this book expecting it to be the "typical" Anita Blake novel, you are in for a little surprise. This novel leaves you hanging a little bit with the development of Anita's relationships with her lovers. Instead, it focuses on her life as a US Marshall and continues developing her relationship with Edward, Bernardo Spotted-Horse and Olaf. It also showcases Bella Morte, Vittorio and Anita's own growing succubus powers. I understand the bad reviews that this novel was given, but if you don't like to read about sex, don't read LKH's books!!! She's made it very clear that this is her, and what she likes to write about, so if you disagree, don't try to change her, find another series. I, don't mind, and like the relationships Anita has. That being said, back to the novel. I enjoyed the different characters and the new city. I missed out on learning more about the men in Anita's life. I did feel as though the relationships were all at a high point in the previous book and then...nothing. But that's okay! Once I got over that fact, I really enjoyed the progression of the novel, the surprise ending, etc. Although this book wasn't my favorite one written, it was very interesting and definitely NOT horrible!!! Hopefully you give it a chance, and if you're like me and have enjoyed the progression of the series (and own every book), this is an interesting and different addition to your collection.

Back to Her Best
Skin Trade is Laurell K Hamiltons latest Anita Blake Vampire hunter Novel. I found this to be one of the best in the series. Recently she has seemed to have been getting lost in Anita Blakes sex life; Danse Macabre springs to mind there; rather than focusing on story and plot. In Skin Trade Laurel K Hamilton has more than abley balanced the two elements. I am not saying that the ardeur and its effect should not be covered as it is more than central to the Anita blake character, rather that the ins and outs of her outrageous sex life should be left more to the imagination. Perhaps though that is my prurient upbringing showing there. In Skin Trade, Anita Blake is goaded to Las Vegas by Vittorio, a psychotic vampire she failed to kill last time around. Its obvously a trap but in true Anita Blake form, she marches straight on into it. The beauty of this story is that we get the deadly triumverate of Anita, Edward and Olaf as the central characters. The only two mortals scarier than most of the preternaturals that Anita hangs out with. The most suprising thing is the development of the relationship between Anita and Olaf. No spoilers here, but I just love the dangerous interaction between these two. I do not say this lightly when I say that, for me, this was one of the best in the series. If you like Anita Blake then you will love this. If you have not read any of the series then this is not the place to start. Get book one and enjoy the ride. Ardeur: Unauthorized Essays on Laurell K. Neues von Anita
