Use Report at 6 months in
These are used in an in-house home gym. Prior to purchase I looked for adjustable dumbbells for use in retirement and this unit appeared to be well-rated and economically priced compared to various name brands. Based on 6 months usage with the set being used 4-5 times weekly (presses, curls, sit-ups) they have proven reliably serviceable with none of the mechanical failures some reviewers have alerted us to. As a number of reviewers have noted, there are some foibles: (1) Binding plates. There was lighter plate "stick" on one of the units (after several month's use) and the plate fell off during the first rep. Upon examination of the plate, I noticed it was slightly burred on one surface. I examined others in the rack and where I found roughness used vegetable oil which appeared to solve the binding issue. Also, if you're concerned over binding, try half racking and returning before lifting out. (2) Detent button periodically "hesitates" on return after weight selection on one unit. On my set the columnar detent buttons are red with a black housing. Some of the photos supplied here show a white housing and others with a linear adjustor so there may be manufacturing variations. A slight left/right shifting of the selector knob restores the travel. Again, if you're suspicious that something's awry, try the half racking move after the selector dial "wiggle". (3) Re-racking issue. I get this occasionally with heavier settings. It appears that the plates left behind shift sightly in the rack when the unit is removed and this causes binding when trying to return the loaded dumbbell to the rack. The remedy is to examine and reposition the plates in the rack fully in their recesses and re-seat the dumbbell.

I've had these for over a year and they do the job
Pros: -Offers a great variety of weight options -Durable and reliable Cons: -The paint chips off the metal weights over time -Rusts easily if kept in a garage -Sometimes it's hard to twist the knob and you have to play with it Now, why did I rate five stars? Because they've been 100% reliable. The weights have never fallen loose on me, and they give me a solid workout week after week. The instructions clearly state not to put these in a garage, so I can't blame them for some bits of rust, but it's purely cosmetic and they work fine. I'm not rough with them, but I certainly don't baby them too much, and they have become a staple in my home workouts. They saved me from quitting fitness altogether when the pandemic struck. I bought the AtivaFit stand that comes separately, and honestly, the stand is worth every penny. It saves your back when lugging around 70 pounds in each hand and makes the dumbells an absolute pleasure to use. I cancelled all gym memberships and have been working out at home for over a year. Thanks AtivaFit!

Expensive but lots of bang for your buck.
These things are amazing. I previously owned a set of bowflex ones that were pre-owned and these are definitely better than the bowflex ones. The bowflex ones you have to adjust each end of the dumbbell whereas on these you only have to adjust one side and it makes the adjustment for both. The clicks are solid, I really have zero complaints. A product like this is going to mean the dumbbell is a little large, but that's to be expected. They adjust fast enough I'm able to do drop sets. I have them on the floor but I might figure out a solution to raise them, idk. Lifting weights is about picking stuff up so am I really going to complain about having to pick them up off the floor? That's what working out is all about. Guess I'll just keep them on the floor lol. They go up to 65 in the clicks, but actually the true wright of them is 70 pounds, I've tested this with a scale. I'm not sure at what point the inaccuracy starts, but I guess I don't really care. If I was using them in a gym in which I was also using different dumbbell sets of probably care but these are the only ones I'm using so it's at least consistent albeit inaccurate. I've tested various steps and it seems to get more inaccurate the more weight you add, with clio #65 being the most inaccurate with 70 lbs instead of 65. For example when set to 10 pounds my scale actually shows 10.5 pounds. When set to 40 its actually 42 pounds, etc. The more weight you set, the closer to that 5 additional pounds you get. Fortunately both dumbbells (I bought two) are the exact same. So they're at least consistent. Why don't I think my scale is the thing that's wrong? Because before I ever even tested it I already could tell the weight was heavier than what I'm used to.

Great adjustable weight set - problem getting info on discount for additional product offer
Bought these for my youngest son and he is very pleased with them. They take a little getting used to for the weight adjustments and such, but overall a great product. I do have an issue though with the product description. It offers 50% off the adjustable balance ball trainer -- 1st bullet in the description. I have tried numerous times to determine HOW to get that product 50% off, with no luck. I will reach out to the seller directly. I sent feedback to the Amazon site on the item description. I have tried everything and am frustrated. I ordered another set of these for Christmas gift for another son, and want two of the balance trainers, so not giving up yet. Absent that issue, I would have rated these a 4 star overall. UPDATE: I changed my rating to a 4 star. I contacted the seller directly. They instructed me to buy two of the balance ball trainers and they would refund me one order once they were received. I sent them an email today indicating they were processing the refund -- so hence I did receive the 50% off discount on the two items. Still a big hassle to get the discount and all. AtivaFit should either provide a discount code to use and a link to the 50% off product, or drop the promotion in this product description. Overall the weights are nice, not perfect due to some difficulties understanding the settings and all that, but nice. A bit overpriced, but so is most home training equipment right now. THANKS to the company for honoring the discount -- much appreciated.

Great dumbells
I love these dumbbells as they replace the need for multiple dumbbells and is quite a space saver as well. They're quite easy to use. Just turn the dial while pressing the red knob/button to switch between the various weights which is a very smooth transition from one weight to another. The only issue that may be encountered is when putting back the dumbbells in the rack as you have to slide it back into its slot properly or else it would not go in. However, this isn't much of an issue. The handle grip is comfortable to use and is comprised of a rubber grip. The dumbbells feel very sturdy and feels way more expensive than what was paid for it. I bought two (2) dumbbells that go up to 70lbs and have not been disappointed. They also look quite appealing to the eye and I have had no issues using either of them.

DANGEROUS, DO NOT BUY!
I bought the pair. I spent over 600 dollars to purchase the pair. At first, very happy with purchase, weights seemed to be holding up. However after using lightly for 6 months, the weights stopped holding the plates. This would not be a danger in itself except the plates will still lift with the handle, giving you a false sense of security they are locked in place. This happens randomly with all different weight combinations and with either dumbell. Usually the smaller plate, but occasionally the larger plates. Seeing as I spent a lot of money, I decided that I would test each plate before reps to insure they were truly locked being extra cautious. Many times i discovered they were not engaged. Well I decided to do chest press the other day, as I was on my 3rd rep, the weight disengaged and hit me right in the face. Luckily it was the smaller weight it hit closer to my scalp so the swelling wasnt so obvious. This is truly dangerous and just want to warn potential buyers.

Save space and perform different workout
This dumbbell equal to several different weight range dumbbells, you don't need to buy many different weight dumbbells and the compact design won't take you too much space. So you can not only save much money, but also save a lot of space in your house. Good design and wearing-resistant give you comfortable feeling. And high quality let you easliy adjust the different weight. During this special quarantine period, I spend so much time on this dumbbell for my exercise. One dumbbell can be performed for every part of my body with different workout. I really like this product.

Well-built but a little expensive
I was worried when I purchased these, because dumbbells are in short supply during the pandemic and I was surprised to find some available. (That is not a sentence that ever thought I would have to write.) But I took the plunge, and they arrived two days later as advertised. There is nothing particularly special about these, compared to any other adjustable dumbbells I've used. They feel sturdy, but the plates can clink a little bit when you're lifting with them. The mechanism is easy: just push the red pin and rotate the dial. Don't drop them on a hard surface, though you really shouldn't do that with non-adjustable dumbbells either. Two things to note: - The $300 price is for one dumbbell. Yeah, they're expensive. But they work. - The weights are in kilograms, not pounds. But you can multiply by 2.204, can't you? UPDATE 2021-04-21 I've owned these for 7 months now and can say: (1) They have held up. I use them 4x/week on a variety of weight settings. Very occasionally, one will pull an extra plate from the rack, but moving the dial back and forth fixes that, and it's quite rare. I remain quite happy. (2) A note about working in kg. The increment of 2.5kg is about 5 lb. Not too bad if you're increasing lifts for dumbbell presses or compound exercises. But lat raises, and a few other lifts, that can be a big increase.
