Also upgrade the cabling in anticipation of FTTP coming to my house. An enthusiastic amateur, fairly ignorant about the ins and outs of CAT cabling and the like, some research at the University of Google led me to the realisation that I needed an RJ45 pass-through crimper and looking at the Amazon pages led me to this one. I don't know if it will stand up to the day-to-day rigours of a professional's demands but it did a fine job with the half-dozen or so connectors that I needed.
