when learning how to create restraints, the initial difficulty Is a bit like you have to pass a Boy Scout test. It's not exactly sexy to be fumbling around trying to figure out how to create some pattern with a rope designed to make your love feel sensuously stimulated. This book has a good grace of being simple, direct, and very well photographed so that the knot patterns are clear. One thing it was not obvious to me when we started was that time restraining patterns is actually an art form at the final patterns have a beauty and a care that indicates care with which they replied because after all my love is being restrained is being excited and wants me to continue so I have to do things to make sure that as create the rope patterns, that I make their implementation as exquisite as the experience that I am creating for my love. This and the sequel to brothers book are good for the library.

I have been in he lifestyle for a while as well as dealing with ropes/knots for most of my life for various hobbies. This is the book I have already recommended to anyone that wants a starter guide, even if they just have a simple curiosity. The writing is easy to follow and has some nice humor sprinkled in. The large amount of photos keeps it very basic for the novice to easily learn. Authors show you the basics from what a square knot is and how to tie it (a basic knot that everyone who picks up a rope should know) to what kind of rope can be used and on to basic rope designs to be used by everyone regardless of gender or sexual orientation. This book does not discriminate on any level but gives education and even helps to show you where to get materials and where you might want to go next after this book. There are other books out there that are good but only if you have a basic understanding, which this book provides. I added this book to my educational shelf as it even has great designs for anyone outside of the novice. Read this first before you start anywhere else or even before you buy your rope.

I love this book.- it is approachable, educational, not explicit, respectful, and more. The only thing is that the newspaper level quality paper really does leave something to be desired. It is hard to make our the details as you might like to especially under low light conditions. Regardless, I highly reccomend!

At last, the Two Knotty Boys have given us the book that will allow people to easily understand how to safely incorporate rope bondage into erotic fun. Granted there have been other texts published on erotic bondage, some have been better than others, but none had all of the elements needed. The "boys" got it right. If you are in the least bit interested in rope bondage, you must get this book. Look at the price, it's a steal. I actually feel bad about paying such a low cost for such a valuable asset. At $16.95 the 37 step by step techniques comes out to .46cents per tie. You'll look great as you tie them and the knots are fantastic looking. Oh, and the person tied will be comfortable, safe, and helpless. What more could we ask for. The "boys" have a perfect background, a industrial rigger, a climber, both backgrounds require safety as the basis for everything. The both love bondage and have taught many, many classes. This means they have learned how to teach the techniques to hundreds of others. It shows in the layout of the book. Simple step by step photos that match the written instructions. No matter what the level of the reader, this book will make you better. Don't wait, get this book now. You will not be disappointed. If there was an award for BDSM books, this would win book of the year. Great job, destined to be the definitive text on erotic bondage!!! 5 stars..at least.

Very handy to have on hand even for an experienced Dom (40 yrs in the lifestyle) to the most basic of weekender who just wants to dabble in the shallow end of the pool. If you want to play, be sure to play safe and always be mindful of your partner. No one knows everything and this book and its sequel are great reference material, big clear pictures and descriptive explanations. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to practice Shibari or even basic bondage, a good buy.

I browsed through this book when I first got it on my tablet with out reading much and found the illustrations to be great and the descriptions of each tie to be even better. the perfect beginners book so far, and unlike some of the other literature that I have been reading on tie subjects, a very good easy pace and does not get too complicated. They also give great descriptions on what kinds of ties should be used for what whether you are looking for restraining, pleasure, or show. I would recommend this book to any beginner I took the advice of the people selling "Complete Shibari Volume 1: Land:" book and even though I have not received it yet, they recommended this book before reading "Complete Shibari Volume 1: Land" and already looking forward to my reading experience on both.

**Intro** This book is slightly oversized and 73 pages long, making it about the size and shape of a special edition magazine. It is full of lots of black and white...er...shades of gray shall we say? ;-)...pictures that are about 1.5" square each, and show step-by-step instructions on how to do different rope ties. Some of the ties are pretty complicated, and one or two of them have on the order of 50 steps! The models in most of the pictures are super attractive, and most of the ties in this book are highly decorative and intricate. Apart from being B&W, the photos are high quality. **Advantages** There are a wide variety of ties here. There are a few ties for preparing partners for sex, and more for dominating and humiliating partners, decorating partners (and yourself), and also a few for basic restraint bondage. There is also a pretty large section about decorative knots that are complex enough that I haven't been patient enough to try them, though they do look really awesome. **Disadvantages** It would be more fun if they had some color pictures inside the book. The only color photo is the front cover. It bothers me a little that they used hardware store grade nylon rope for all of the ties shown in the book, but I think they did this for the sake of contrast in the B&W photos, and it does prove that everyone can do fancy stuff with cheap rope. They talk about how to prepare rope ends in the beginning of the book, which is excellent, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't explain how to do the palm and needle method. The methods that they do show are almost too obvious, and not very suave (taping the ends or melting the ends). Another thing with this book that may leave some readers dissatisfied is that most of the ties here are slanted toward decorative purposes, and are more elaborate than some people will have the patience for. A distinct portion of bondage enthusiasts are looking for simpler ties to use in preparing/restraining people for sex. If this is you, consider getting other books, like the ones by Douglas Kent or Bondage for Sex by Chanta Rose. **Conclusion** This is a good book, but if you are interested in getting a well-rounded pragmatic introduction/overview to bondage to get started off with, or if you are more interested in using bondage together with sex with your lover, you might want to start with other books instead. This isn't a bad book, it's just that there are even better ones for those purposes. On the other hand, if you are more into decorative bondage than restraint or sex bondage, then purchasing this book is indeed a good idea. If you buy this book, or others about bondage, remember to have fun, be safe, and remember, consensual is sexy!!!

Make no mistake about it, these two knotty boys have written and illustrated some of the best and most intricate knots in the BDSM scene and they are masterful in their knotwork. Some of the bondage knots look quite intimidating at first glance, until you actually try to make the knots a few times and realize it's a lot easier than taking the garbage out, so to speak. You can also get some accompanying videos from their website of the very knots that are in the illustrations, this is for people who learn better by watching than by looking at diagrams and attempting to figure them out by themselves. It took me less than a month to try/test out all the bondage knots (I tried them all over a dozen times each) and that's all it took to memorize them. Very interesting skill, though a little daunting when one first encounters this sort of thing. None of this is any more difficult than middle school Papier-mâché and anyone with a little time, dedication, and perseverance can learn this stuff with a good amount of eagerness and patience. Remember the first time you try any knot isn't going to be the best knot. You must do it over and over to refine it until it becomes natural, and then you are well on your way to learning something very ingenious. Highly Recommended and Absolutely 5 Stars on this one. Way to go Two Knotty Boys, you guys are the Best in the biz.. that's for sure.

Was disappointed with the subject's descriptions, styles and techniques. Lacks the spirit of a "true" BDSM play. Too elementary for couples who are already in BDSM. But, the images are excellent and crystal clearly displayed. Step by step instructions are easy to follow. Not recommended for couple who already knows the basic rope technique.

Dit boek heb ik voor iemand anders gekocht. Ik heb niks met bondage, zij vonden het boek zeer leerzaam, met goede stap voor stap foto`s en goede veiligheids tips and trics. Sehr anschaulich werden Knotentechniken und einfache Bondage Designs an den Lernwilligen gebracht ..so das man schnell erste Erfolge erzielen kann... ich habe die Back to the Ropes als Printausgabe zuerst gekauft.. man kann mit beiden Büchern unabhängig vom anderen arbeiten , sehr empfehlenswert
