Review: Early Walk On DVD - This Walk On set of five 1-mile routines seems to be an early video in the series. The quality of the routine is excellent as in later DVDs but there are slight differences in how it's produced. To begin with, the music reminds me of aerobics classes from the 90s, a little disco flare to it. Jessica gives less information about the benefits of each move but they seem to be the foundation for moves in other DVDs. This 5 Fat Burning Miles selection would be good to start with if you are new to Walk On. The workouts feature Jessica, her mom Debbie and their friend Beth demonstrating different levels along with modifications. The studio was a little blah but I enjoyed the music and the routines didn't strain my knees or quads too much. The slightly shorter routines worked well for me since I'm building up my endurance after an illness. I'm closer to Debbie in age, mostly get regular exercise including yoga and have muscles that are temporarily weaker than what would be normal for me. I only do two miles at a time currently though the flexible format makes it easy to do as many as you want in whichever order. The individual miles start with a warm-up and are: 1) Brain Booster - some unusual coordination challenges 2) Belly, Buns & Thighs - emphasis on lower body 3) Power Posture - works areas like upper back that help with posture 4) Turbo Charged - somewhat similar to interval training 5) Boogie Down - more dance-like All run a little less than 15 minutes. A countdown timer appears in the lower right hand of the screen towards the end of each walk. The series can be followed in sequence or can be customized. There is no floor work in the main routines nor a need for any equipment. Two additional stretching and strengthening routines are included: The Strong Feet & Ankles Workout and The Strong Knees & Hips Routine. At least one requires a chair. I haven't done either yet because I mainly use this series for cardio. I don't know whether it's just because it's my newest Walk On DVD or because the routines seem to flow more smoothly but I really enjoyed the 5 Fat Burning Miles. I have at least four Jessica Smith workout DVDs and, of the three that are Walk On miles, this one is the easiest for me because there is much less dipping down into squats. I still had enough of a workout to get sweaty by the end without feeling any knee strain. Of course, I substitute with the easier version of jumping jacks which was about the only alteration I found necessary on any of these five routines. It's upbeat without going at too fast a pace and presents the foundations of exercises that reappear in altered versions on other videos. I recommend 5 Fat Burning Miles for anyone new to this workout series or anyone who needs a gentle on the joints yet good cardio workout. Review: A new fan of Jessica Smith workout dvds - I recently got a recommendation to check out workout dvds by Jessica Smith. I have been wanting to try something new because a certain workout company (BB) is making it harder to get their workouts on dvd, not to mention that during the workout, they try to sell other products, which gets a little annoying after hearing it every time one works out. I don't want to depend on (and continually pay for) streaming and I have found other products (like meal replacement shakes) that work just as well for less money. I can't completely knock them though, because they are the first workouts I ever stuck with and I had some success with them in the past. But I still wanted to try something new, maybe something a little different, and see if I could get similar results. So after researching and looking at reviews for Jessica Smith workout dvds (which impressed me by how many great reviews all of the dvds had), I decided to buy these three - https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B01M6ATZSG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B00W85TAHE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.desertcart.com/gp/product/B01GKKXXG6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have to say that they did not disappoint, at all!! After only using them for almost a couple of months, I can easily say with confidence that they all work! These are my new favorite workouts! I love them all for different reasons. I use the Walk On 5 Fat Buring Miles dvd on the days I'm not using the Walk Off Belly Fat dvd (usually on the 6th and/or 7th day of the workout week) or when I don't have much time that day to work out. This dvd is sectioned so that you can take as little time to exercise as just 25 minutes (1 mile) up to 83 minutes (all 5 miles), and anywhere in between. On hectic days, one can do just one or two miles, or on days where you have time, you can do all five, so it's nice and convenient that it's sectioned off the way it is. Definite plus for me! First off, I like the prices of her dvds. The other company's prices were very high compared to hers (that is, if they were actually selling the workouts on dvd). The main thing I like about her dvds though is how upbeat and motivational she is during the workouts and she does every single second of the workout with the rest of us! She is motivational without being pushy (not a big fan of pushy instructors). I appreciate how different levels of the routine are offered so if you are a beginner (or feeling like lower impact that day), intermediate (middle ground), or advanced (or would like a challenge that day), all levels are truly covered. I also appreciate the feeling that she is not all or nothing (which I felt like was the motto of most of the instructors of the other workout company - not all but most). Her exercises work without being grueling. I'm honestly not a big fan of exercise and in the past, I had to talk myself into exercising for the day, but with her workouts, I don't mind pushing play. And after most of her workouts, I don't feel like I'm exhausted, but rather energized so it doesn't make me dread having to workout for the day. By incorporating these dvds with a calorie counting app, I have lost the most weight I ever have. So she definitely has a new fan in me! I definitely recommend this dvd and I will be buying more of her dvds in the future (and cancelling the other company's streaming service)!

OMG! What a great DVD!
Recently, a friend of mine suggested that I try out Jessica Smith's WALKING DVDs. So, I purchased her 6 MILE MIX DVD and all I can say is WOW! That DVD gave me a great workout and motivated me to keep at it. I decided to check out other Jessica Smith's DVDs and the reviews on this one made me purchase it right away. Again, all I can say is WOW about this DVD. It's a fun workout but it's challenging too. Not too hard but there is just enough intensity to get you moving and sweating! Jessica is delightful and I love watching her workout with her mom and friend. I also like that her DVDs let you customize your workout plan! I definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to move and get healthier!

Fun and Versatile Cardio DVD With A Great Instructor
This is a great cardio DVD for those who are just starting out, or to use on lighter exercise days for people who are more intermediate. Jessica is upbeat, genuine and motivating throughout the workout without being annoying or cutesy-poo. You can tell she really is passionate about making fitness accessible for everyone. I don't get bored doing this DVD which is really saying something because I bore easily. Jessica is also very careful with cueing and explaining proper form, which is so important! The DVD begins with a gentle warm up and then is broken into short segments focusing on different parts of the body which you can do alone when you are short on time, or you can do them back to back for a more complete workout. I skip the "brain booster" segment but if you need help with coordination you might find it fun. The rest are basic, solid aerobics without any fancy choreography to learn. Even the "boogie down" dance portion is super easy to master. The best part is that Jessica has two other people assisting her - one to show higher impact variations and one (her mom!) to show completely non-impact variations. Jessica does a mix of both. There are two bonus segments for healthy knees and feet which I have not tried. I prefer to do a more thorough cool down and stretch than the one on this DVD. You don't need any special equipment (other than good athetic shoes!) or a lot of space. I easily do this in my apartment living room with the coffee table shoved out of the way.

Good
This is way more difficult than it appears. I like that you can mix and match your miles. It is confusing when you are choosing because a bar lights up briefly and disappears by your selected mile. So it left me guessing if I did it right, it was fine. In terms of the workout, this lady isn't messing around, she is way more intense than Leslie Sansone. So if Leslie is what you are used to, be prepared to really work out. It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of intensity and isn't hard on my knees which I appreciate, I also modify any move that doesn't agree with my joints. Still offers a great workout. Recommend!

Not her best but another solid DVD set for your collection
As many of the previous reviewers, I too LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jessica and own a lot of her DVDs. I was thrilled to hear she was coming out with another one in the Walk On line. I ordered it right away. She is a wonderful instructor with such positive enthusiasm, wonderful direction and lots of encouragement. Sadly, I wasn't thrilled with this one. It is not bad, but not great either. The best way to describe this one is this...if you are looking for a good walking DVD to supplement your daily routine, this is for you. It offers some really nice health benefits with the brain boosting walk and perfect posture walk, etc. However, if you are looking to lose weight or build endurance...this is NOT the DVD to preferentially grab. Choose Jessica's 21 day plan or her 15 minute fat burn walking DVDs. Those are GREAT! This one is not hard / intense enough (in my own opinion). I hardly sweat at all after the 5 miles. The fact that it is called "5 fat burning miles" is a bit of a stretch. Maybe it is intense for beginners but for most exercisers...likely not. Overall, a good DVD from Jess, but again, not her best. Love the music in the cool down segment best!

Easy, but effective. And fun!
I bought this DVD after breaking my toe. I couldn't do the intense workouts that I was used to, and it was summertime in Phoenix, Arizona, and I didn't want to walk outside in the heat. These five workouts really work if you have minor injuries and still want to do some type of exercise, or if you're just starting out exercising. Jessica has a great disposition and isn't annoying, like some instructors can be. There are five different walks, one for each mile, and they average 15 minutes in length. And you can do them all at once, one at a time, or in any order. In order of appearance there's the brain booster (fun movements to challenge your brain); belly, buns, and thighs workout (that concentrates more on those areas); a power posture walk (with exercises that help alleviate neck, shoulder and back pain); turbo charged walk that is more intense and raises your hear rate, but is still low impact; and the boogie down walk (a walk that incorporates different dance moves that are really easy and fun. My personal favorite). Even though these exercises are really easy, they are effective, and they're fun. They make the time fly right by.

Joining the fan club!
I agree with a lot of the other reviews, this is one of my favorite Jessica Smith DVDs! I have so many walking workout DVDs from other instructors and even Ms Smith, I wasn't going to buy this one. I did though because I have a goal this year to walk 1 mile per day (at least). I live in the north, so I need an indoor option and I liked that this was a mix and match DVD. That helps me with the boredom. I am so glad I bought this DVD! All of the miles are fun, different and move quickly. But I have to say the DVD is worth every penny for the Power Posture walk, and the bonus workouts - Strong Feet & Ankles, and Strong Hips & Knees alone! I have a lifetime of poor posture I'm trying to correct, arthritis in my knees, and very tight hips. I used to teach group fitness, specifically group dance fitness. I did not follow my own advice of cross training enough, ended up with an injured shoulder that took me out of instructing, and walked away with very, very tight hips (which can really affect your knees and feet). The Power Posture Walk really works those posture muscles which is great because most walks don't. The bonus workouts, while much slower than typical "workouts" provide some much needed focusing on our hips, knees, feet and ankles. If our foundation isn't in good shape, a lot of problems surface. So great job, Ms Smith, for providing cross training we need, in a fun manner!
