It is tedious and distracting to look up every word, and that may lead to incorrect translations. There is NO grammar -- how does a student learn without also learning some basic grammar? Concepts are not explained, and there are no drills to bolster memory. The book doesn't explain a topic and doesn't stay on a topic long enough for the student to understand it. The pages are wildly cluttered and disorganized, and the fonts are too small, too light and too "decorative" in some cases to be readable. The conversations are like chalk-on-a-blackboard -- do I need to know how to discuss a teenager who hates her mother or a boy whose girlfriend has gotten pregnant? I don't need so much art, either.
