should I use the 1 7/8" screw or the 2 3/8" screw with 5/4 PT decking?

You can use either. The 1 7/8" is typically used in 5/4" decking and the 2 3/8" is used for 2x. I've found that the 2 3/8" actually works better in some composites.

can I only use national nail screws with this tool or are there screws can be used

Yes. Camo uses a patented screw design that is not replicated elsewhere. Screws are offered at reasonable prices in quantities.

How can I get a larger gap than 3/16"? I want to use this on a horizontal wood fence.

Cut a spacer 3\16th of an inch narrower then the gap you want between the boards. Attach the first board to the fence. Then place the spacer on top of the board. Attach the next board using the marksman pro tool resting on the spacer. Remove the spacer, place it on top of the second board and repeat...
