Fast, Powerful, and Thoughtfully Designed — A Big Upgrade from Zojirushi
I’ve used a Zojirushi rice cooker for over eight years, so switching brands wasn’t a light decision. After using the CUCKOO High Pressure Rice Cooker, I can confidently say this was one of the best kitchen upgrades I’ve ever made. ⸻ What I Like The most impressive feature is how fast it cooks. Rice is ready in about 20 minutes, which is a huge improvement compared to my old cooker. Despite the speed, the quality doesn’t suffer at all. The high-pressure cooking produces rice that’s evenly cooked, fluffy, and well-textured. Another major plus is the nonstick inner pot without Teflon. That was very important to me, and CUCKOO delivers here. Cleaning is easy, and I feel better knowing it avoids traditional Teflon coatings. Performance-wise, it handles both short-grain and long-grain rice beautifully without compromise. Whether it’s sticky rice or regular long-grain, the results are consistently excellent. The design also deserves praise. It looks modern, sleek, and premium—something you don’t mind leaving out on the countertop. It genuinely stands out compared to more utilitarian-looking rice cookers. ⸻ What Could Be Better While the cooker performs extremely well, the interface and settings may take some time to get used to, especially if you’re coming from a simpler model. A clearer or more intuitive menu could improve the experience for first-time users. Additionally, the price point may feel high upfront, though the performance and durability help justify the investment over time. ⸻ Overall Impression The CUCKOO High Pressure Rice Cooker outperforms my long-trusted Zojirushi in speed, design, and cooking technology. Fast cooking, excellent results, a Teflon-free nonstick pot, and a standout design make this a top-tier rice cooker. Highly recommended for anyone serious about rice and willing to invest in quality.

Best rice cooker I've used
This is my first time purchasing a Cuckoo rice cooker and I'm extremely impressed. There are some minor caveats/things to bear in mind when you buy this, but TL;DR: this is a solid rice cooker and I haven't made better rice with any other rice cooker. First, the design is sleak -- the back w/ rose gold goes well with most of our appliances, and adds a nice bit of accent color to the kitchen. My only complaint about the external design is how thin some of the platic feels to the touch. This doesn't 'feel' like a product in its price point; it feels much cheaper. I could imagine this breaking irreparably if dropped. The built-in voices are fun -- being greeted with a little jingle and hearing a voice notify me of each stage of the cooking process is really nice, in spite of being more of a 'fun' thing than a practical one. The voice is in multiple languages, and can be disabled entirely. Again, a bit over-the-top, but it has its function of offering me the freedom to work about the kitchen without constantly checking the rice cooker. This particular rice cooker is non-stick while avoiding the use of teflon. I do not have burnt rice stuck on the bottom of the bowl -- instead, I get consistent rice to my liking from top to bottom, and I don't need to worry about chips of teflon in my food. It has a self-sanitizing feature, that will use hot water to sanitize itself. It should be noted the self-sanitizing is not self-cleaning. In other words, you still need to detach the various plates and components to sufficiently clean the unit. One should not rely on this feature alone to keep their rice cooker clean and in good condition. Speaking of components, there are multiple components that are detachable for cleaning purposes, specifically in the lid. This is a pressure rice cooker, and the various lids and steam filters need cleaning. This is fine and dandy, but the first plate in the lid really requires some strength. It is held in by a thick rubber gromet with a tiny rubber handle, which you can pull to remove the plate. The rubber handle is small and smooth, so people with big fingers/hands will struggle getting a decent grip on it, and people with smaller fingers and hand may struggle with the amount of force required to detach it. It is areas in the design like this and the plastic enclosure where cuckoo made clear design decisions to save on production costs. Luckily, none of these things detract from the quality of the product it yields. I have NEVER cooked better straight rice out of the rice cooker than I have with this. There are several cooking modes to choose from -- most folks will use the glutinous rice setting, which has 3 settings of its own - normal, high heat, and turbo. Normal mode will cook the rice in around 40 minutes High heat will cook the rice in about 30 Turbo will cook it in about 20 The quality degrades the higher power you use -- but not by much. The worst 'quality' rice I got was using the turbo setting for glutinous rice -- it was only slightly tougher than what I'd have preferred, but if I'm in a pinch for time, the turbo mode yields rice that is good enough. Normal mode seems to have the best yield, as the rice is evenly cooked from top to bottom. There are zero 'hard' pieces of rice, nor a collection of burnt rice on the bottom of the bowl, reducing waste. Each grain is soft and is as sticky as I want. It's important to note there are timed modes, as well as ways to customize each option's cook settings, so you can tweak the presets to suit your needs. All in all, this is one of the best cooking appliances I've purchased in awhile.

Great
Awesome rice cooker. I've used it multiple times a day ever since I got it and I've never had an issue. Everything works as it's supposed to. I wish it came with the rice measuring cup. I never did find one in the package. Other than that, it's been a great rice cooker.

Delicious rice!
It is now 11/18/2024. After 4 years, the cooker is finally starting to show it's true colors BUT never fear! I use the CLEAN function with pot filled with water at full capacity with a tablespoon of vinegar to rid the smell WEEKLY or TWICE a month and it's back to delicious smelling rice! I will never get tired of my rice cooker telling me when the rice is ready. You have to put work in as goes with any appliance such as a toaster oven or stove..etc. Update: 8/9/22: Been over a year now? Rice cooker still going strong. Still makes delicious rice. We lost our measuring cup inside our 60 gallon rice container but never fear! By using my pinky to measure the amount of water needed (measure up to second knuckle line from fingernail), this smart rice cooker can estimate how long it needs to cook the rice for. No regrets! Still worth every penny! Had this rice cooker for over 6 months, and still going strong! It's SO IMPORTANT to read the instructions as it tells you everything you may need to know about handling this expensive cooker. As soon as I changed the settings to English, everything was a breeze. Also, for great lasting rice, turn the warming function down to the lowest heat setting which is 76 or something. Keeps my rice from turning brown and awesome tasting for over 30 hours. Used almost everyday. Also super easy to clean and like a car, you must keep it clean for a long lasting supply of delicious rice, which is super easy bc its mostly just wiping the inside and clearing it of dropped rice grains, ensuring the rubber does not produce mold.. Most satisfied investment in food products to buy.

Makes good white rice
I'm a third generation American of Japanese Ancestry pushing 60 years of age, and I've spent all my life eating white rice. My mother taught me how to cook rice on a wood fire, for general knowledge, and I grew up on simple one button rice cookers that would shut off after the boiling stage, while the rice finished cooking by steaming on the residual heat, basically mimicking the open fire cooking method. Growing up in the US, most white rice encountered in restaurants were disappointing, even in so called Japanese restaurants. Many people don't soak the rice before cooking, and they use the knuckle measuring technique, often resulting in hard or mushy rice. It is common knowledge that rice in Japan is better, primarily because of the quality of the rice. In Hawaii, we buy relatively inexpensive rice grown in California. So, it is important to use the best cooking methods to make the best of what we have in terms of rice. The Cuckoo rice cooker is a pressure cooker, so the rice comes out with a nice shiny appearance and the grains hold their texture, i.e. not mushy. It makes for very good and consistent rice. But it is not perfect rice in my opinion. The machine calls the white rice "glutinous" rice. I think this means sticky, which it is. It is a little too sticky for sushi rice for example. Also, the rice has a slight dark tint, almost grey. These are minor in my opinion, as I simply eat white rice like the way most Americans eat bread or pasta, and the Cuckoo machine does a fine job at cooking white rice for Asians like me.

Reliable, High-Quality Rice Cooker—Great Upgrade!
Overall ★★★★★ Effectiveness ★★★★★ Price ★★★★☆ Safe ★★★★★ Re-purchase? Yes After using the previous version of this rice cooker for over 10 years, it finally gave out due to a sensor issue. Since I’ve always trusted the quality and reasonable pricing of Korean rice cookers, I started searching for a similar model online. Luckily, I found this newer version of the one I previously owned. First Impression: One thing I realized after ordering was that my old rice cooker was a 5-cup model, but this one is a 10-cup size—so it’s much bigger than I expected! (A quick tip: always double-check the size before ordering to avoid the same mistake I made!) That said, the sleek white design of this rice cooker looks modern and blends well with my kitchen. Performance: As expected, this rice cooker delivered excellent results. I’ve used it to cook rice with beans and harder grains, and it cooked everything thoroughly and to perfection. The warming function works without any issues, keeping the rice at an ideal temperature. My family and I have been enjoying great meals since purchasing it, and we are fully satisfied. Pros: Excellent cooking performance Modern and stylish design Cons: The size was bigger than anticipated (my mistake for not checking!)

Perfect Gift!
I bought this rice cooker as a birthday present for my son, who's enrolled in culinary school right now. In the past week, he's used it--to make perfect jasmine rice--twice. He can't stop talking about how much he *loves* the cooker! The machine "talks" to you, in default Korean. You can program it to switch to either English or Chinese (?) Not sure if that's Mandarin or Cantonese because the printed instruction booklet just calls it "Chinese" & I don't speak either Mandarin or Cantonese. I'd love to change the voice to an "English" one; however, my son is dating a Korean woman & finds the voice very soothing. I think eventually he'll understand what "she" is saying! :>) I feel I can make decent rice in a pot on the stove. However, this cooker does hold up to 6 cups of *uncooked* rice, which makes about 14 cups of cooked rice in less than 25 minutes. When I make jasmine rice on the stovetop, that amount of uncooked rice would take close to 25 minutes just to come to a boil, let alone cook & then rest to absorb the water. It has a removable insert that must be handwashed only, and also has an included (plastic?) small rice paddle for serving the rice. Not sure of what material the rice paddle is; only know that even though I bought a silicone Zwilling rice paddle for my son, he says the Korean paddle is a better shape & prefers the smaller rice scoop. This cooker also cooks other grains, like oats (to make oatmeal); GABA (brown rice that's been soaked in water to have it "sprout"); and even quinoa, I believe. Because it's a pressure cooker too, it can make dishes like beef stew also! The only drawback to using it as a pressure cooker is that the insert is only 3 quarts. Obviously, a beef stew would be enough for 2-3 people only. Overall this rice cooker works really well, and I love the taste (and perfume!) of the rice. For anyone who eats a lot of grains and would like a faster way to cook them, I recommend this rice cooker.
