Blackest Black Ink from Sturdy fine ROLLER BALL tips = WIN WIN
Ohmygosh, The Ohto Graphic Liner changed my viewpoint of both fine needle pens, and rollerballs. It's the blackest ink of all my pens (Pigma Micron, Tombow, Windsor & Newton, even my beloved Uni-Pins) and goes on so smooth. It goes down on the paper without any of the customary "drag" you get from other fine liners. I can have a heavy-hand, it's a bad old habit, and the Ohto just keeps on going without complaint, even on the 0.3mm finest tip. I don't know how Ohto got rollerball technology on pens this fine, but they did, and it can be a game changer! You can hold it at a normal pen/pencil writing angle without any degrading of the line. When you need to fill in with them - they flow so quickly and nicely! When they say they are waterproof, I put that to the test with... lots of water. It never moved on either watercolor paper, sketch paper, or plain old card stock. Literally, I dropped water from a dropped right onto the border of an inked area. Not a spray, a few drops of water, all puddled up. I do wish their pen sizes corresponded to mm; but they aren't the only ones to make up sizes, are they? Get a chart. The set goes from 0.3mm to 1.5mm. I find myself mostly using the two finest ones. If they start making an even finer one, I will be RIGHT THERE to buy it. How about a 002, Ohto?! Please? :) These are a trick that everyone can add to their art tools arsenal, and an especially affordable one if you catch them on sale! Enjoy yours! It's the best of fine art pens and doodling around with your gel pen in a boring meeting. On steroids!

Best Art Pens I’ve Ever Used
I’ve been drawing in pen and ink for 10+ years, and these are the best pens I’ve used, hands down (and I have tried A LOT of pens, including the usual suspects like Micron and Rapidograph.) I have no hesitation recommending them.

Smooth & quiet writing liners!
Very nice tips, writes evenly-even on the strong texture of watercolor paper. Gorgeous range of sizes!! I'll buy these when I need to replace. Unlike Sakura finetip liners, these do NOT leak on my hands. Sakura has a pressure balancing hole near the finger holds that leaks often but NOT the OHTO pens. Unlike Staedtler liner pens which squeak & scratch across paper, the OHTO brand writes smoothly.

Not as good as gel pens but good enough.
Not as good as gel pens but it's hard to find gel pens in these sizes.

I like these. They are not a replacement for fineliners or writing pens though
I like these pens, they draw great with slow strokes on padded paper. They don't draw as consistently as a marker fineliners, which is maybe to be expected since these are rollerball and they bleed a bit. They don't write as well as inkgel on most papers either, tending to skip a little. So while these are great as a resilient fineliner stand-in for heavy handed drawers, I don't think they replace fineliners outright and I wouldn't use them as a writing utensil unless my pad of paper is up to the challenge. I'm inclined to try Pentel energel 0.3 / 0.5 / 0.7 as a similar comparison but I expect just as much bleeding

Great pens
Being a big fan of drawing pens I excitedly try any new to me pens I encounter. These pens intrigued me because of the “needlepoint” roller ball, thinking they might serve well for my heavy handedness in writing and drawing. In that regard these pens did not disappoint. I love the solid feel of them both in my hand and as they glide across the page. Yes, to me it feels as if they are gliding across the page when I write and draw. Sometimes it feels as though other pens are scratching and dragging across the page when I use them. Again, most likely because I write with a heavy hand and tend to favor paper with a bit of tooth. I like that the ink is very black and gives good coverage. I do a lot with optical and pattern drawings and dark colors and complete coverage is important. The ink dries quickly and does not smear, at least on drawing paper. It doesn’t do as well on cheap, thin paper (like sticky notes) where I found the larger nib sizes tended to bleed and feather. I also found that the larger nib sizes in particular didn’t always give a consistent line but I find that to be true with a lot of pens. The Graphic Liner gives plenty of link and a fairly consistent, smooth flow. The needlepoint nib doesn’t eventually bend, fray or snag on toothy paper. It contains archival, waterproof and fade-proof pigment ink. It is available in 6 nib sizes that are reportedly comparable to other artist pens. But that isn’t the whole story. While Ohto pens do use standardized sizing, the actual nib sizes related to that sizing is not consistent with other drawing pen sizes currently on the market. For example, Sakura Micron pens nib sizes correspond to actual line thickness. Ohto pens on the other hand produce a line thickness that is smaller than the nib size. This is probably related to the difference in nib styles and ink releasing systems. I’ve attached two charts showing Ohto Graphic Liner nib sizes and performance and one comparing them to Sakura Micron Pen sizes and performance. Ohto Graphic Liners perform well and I’m well pleased. You will never get as fine a line with these pens as with Microns or some of the other drawing pens currently available. But for me the overall coverage and solid feel makes up for that. I use these pens both for drawing and writing. In fact, due to the smooth feel and glide they are the only set of my drawing pens that I also like to use for writing.

Really good pens!
Love these! I have trouble with other archival felt tip pens on cold press paper because you have to keep them fairly perpendicular to the paper to get a smooth line. These are SO SMOOTH at a much sharper angle. I honestly think they might be my new favorite pen for my watercolor/ink work.
