It was fantastic! They love this book and the ones we've read since. I was very pleased that it is generally fine for both my kids, considering my son might be a little young for it. I do skip a few sentences or descriptions here and there about things I know they are afraid of (I didn't read the full description of a large snake, for example), but it is well-written, fun and interesting to both of my kids. And I'm enjoying it as much as them!
