Bonide Captain Jack's Slug Magic Granules, 24 oz Snail & Slug Killer, For Organic Gardening, Pet Safe Formula

I bought this because I’m an astrophile and love going out in my front yard looking at the stars and watching for meteors and such, but if I had to get up from my lounge chair for anything, I’d have to turn on my flashlight to make sure I wouldn't step on slugs (... gross!) then the light really messed with my night vision. There were armies crossing over my sidewalk every night! I got fed up. I have a severe case of freak-out when I see an earthworm or slug. (Writing the words freak me out! ) I bought this at the beginning of Spring 2022 and from the first evening I sprinkled the granules in the rock along either side of my sidewalk, up until about 4 nights ago (it’s 8/I5/22 when I wrote this review). I had not seen one slug on my sidewalk or in the rock on either side. Not one! I’m truly amazed and grateful. Directions state to make sure you sprinkle it around the area you desire control after rainfall, or when rain isn’t in the forecast. After it rains, it will melt and become part of the soil, as it’s all natural. It apparently attracts the slugs and they eat it and it kills them. I didn’t see one dead slug on my sidewalk, for which I’m beyond grateful, so to me that means its super effective. I’m repurchasing because I still have months to stargaze before it gets too chilly for the little slimy slugs to hibernate. The optimal temperature for activity for slugs is 62 degrees F, so they’ll be creeping around a bit longer. I can’t have slugs messing with my experience. Nope. Not as long as Bonide makes these magical granules. Now onto fighting the mosquitos!

Fantastic. Stopped the slugs from eating my strawberries and leaving slime trails all over the walkway. Noticed it working within a day or 2. No slugs for a couple weeks now. Strawberries are thriving!

No harm to plants, no new slugs, easy to use. better than expected

Surprisingly enough it worked very well. I recommend it I bought it three times over the past 2 years.

Extremely pleased with the results of this product. I was inundated with slugs and snails. From the very first use, almost all of the slugs and snails were gone. A couple more applications and i no longer had any slugs or snails for months. Due to the heavy rains, I needed to reorder. I highly recommend this product as I did not expect it to work as well as it did. And I feel much safer applying a product that will not harm the animals or birds.

This product works, I’ve used it before. My only issue was the bottle was not sealed and arrived with the cover open on one side so when I opened the plastic shipping container it was mailed in the slug killing pellets went flying out all over my living room carpet. It is supposed to be safe for pets but who wants to take that chance. Hope in the future the sellers will be more careful in shipping, making sure they send sealed containers.

I'm a lazy gardener but try to keep it organic when I can, which is why I love and swear by this stuff! It works SUPER well for slugs and snails, and also waters in and fertilizes my garden! One thing to note: don't water AFTER putting this stuff in the dirt. And don't water just before either. This stuff will melt away and NOT work if it don't put it on fairly dry soil. I typically water in the morning, and put this stuff out in the am, and reapply a couple of times a month and it seems to do the trick.

Other methods of keeping snails out of the tomatoes were not effective. We had hundreds of garden snails eating everything in sight, but after applying this there have been no more tomatoes with gouged out sides. Other snail bait I have used was not effective after it got wet, and since we water every day in this climate that was not acceptable. This snail bait has lasted over a month with both rain and daily watering. It didn't shake out of the lid very well so I just use a plastic spoon to apply it around the base of the plants.
