Revell 85-0302 USS Arizon Battleship Model Military Ship Kit 1:426 Scale 133-Piece Skill Level 4 Plastic Model Building Kit, Gray

"It makes me think that I'm building the Arizona itself. I'm the dry dock, and I'm building it." The words of my 9-year-old son, who pretty much put this together on his own. He has been fascinated with World War II for about a third of his life (since he was 6), and we even gave him a Pearl Harbor cake for his last birthday. As the school year is coming to an end, he decided that he wanted to begin putting the model together while I was out of town on a conference. This is an excellent reproduction of the Arizona. The turrets of the guns actually turn. Although several of the pieces are quite small, the instructions are very clear. Although he did need some assistance from his parents when it came to putting the hull together, my son was able to do an extremely passable job on his own. He loves it, and that's all that matters!

Had fun building this with my son. Overall, he was able to do all but the hull assembly (which was a bear!). At least on ours, the two pieces were warped and did not want to fit together properly. Ended up using super glue and holding them together for almost an hour (contours didn't allow for clamps to be used). Otherwise, we had a great time with this.

This is a really fun kit to build.The reason why I rated 4 stars is that this kit is a older kit so most of the pieces are not perfect.But using a scalpel will fix those problems so this kit would get a 4.5 but it is just full stars .Also the split haul might look hard but all you need I duck tape to put on the outside and then glue on the inside . Really fun to build I also added the cables to it to add most style to it .😁👍

Love the model. Directions poor in some cases. No decal for ship number, you don't miss it till it's not there.

It's not an easy build, especially if you take the time to paint it. Lots of battleship grey. Look at historical photos and paint the ship. The complaints about the hull are correct if you don't take the time to glue it AND HOLD IT IN PLACE until it dries. It's an old vintage kit, so take the time to cut the burs off with an Exacto knife or something similar. Lots of small parts. You may have to cut some to make them fit. The date on the original mold is decades old. Keep that in mind.

I commend companies such as Revell for producing model kits that strike a good balance between price and detail. The kit contains 133 parts molded in a medium grey plastic. The hull length measures approximately 17.5 inches. The model has good overall detail and looks the business built straight out of the box. The model can be further enhanced with the addition of rigging and even aftermarket photo-etched detail parts. A terrific kit for less than $18.00.

I take many things that I do not like in stride. Look over my past ratings. This model is ridiculous. PLEASE DO NOT BLAME ANY SELLER FOR THIS. BLAME REVELL. I initially built one of these around 1976. My parents went to Hawaii and brought me back this model. It was way thicker! More Solid. On the top of this ship you can see right through the cheap plastic. The hull of this model is a travesty. There is only one pin and hole on either end of this, unlike the old one. The rest you glue and hold together. No problem if the pieces are machined correctly. Mine has an 1/8" gap all the way down. There is no way to glue it because it does not match. When the deck gets glued on it will make the gap worse. Because you have to squeeze the upper part of the ship inward to hold the deck. If I had known this from the start. I could have glued the middle first. But, you can't glue totally uneven pieces. Perhaps I could have spent the next week sanding both sides? I wanted so bad to throw the whole kit in the trash. Then I realized anyone can quit. Once the upper deck gets painted and installed. I am going to attempt to putty the bottom.

Overall a pretty good model. Although, I would have given it 5 stars but it does come with a few flaws like the both parts of the hull don't fit together properly, they had some gap which I had to fill. Also, I couldn't get the foremast to fit correctly to the deck. Otherwise, it was fun to build this one
