Exactly as pictured
The nest box is made of light-weight but very sturdy solid wood, nothing pressed or fake. The back side has a clear plastic film, not glass (if you are expecting that) but as it is designed to go up against the window for viewing it seems fine for that purpose. We immediately painted the box with kids paints, and it took them well. We are not professionals so we probably should have varnished/sealed something but no worries here!Unfortunately when my husband sees the nest not as a chance to get a close up view of nature or bird lives or eggs but instead as a huge bird poop magnet and negotiations are still ongoing as to whether we will actually put it up or not. Either way, we can't return it!

Nice product - needs finishing
Got this for a gift for my sister in law and it is as advertised in the picture. It needed a little bit of sanding with some rough spots which is why I gave this a 4 not a 5. You also will need to stain it/weather treat it on your own. But this could be a fun project for you alone or if you have kids, for your kids, to decorate/paint the bird house. There is not a one way mirror so if you don't want to scare the birdies, you probably need to get a mirror that allows you to see the birds but the birds not to see you. Not too heavy. The 3 suction cups should be enough provided you secure them well.

Simple and Awesome
Product is well made and sturdy. The unfinished wood is nice for people that either want to finish the house themselves, or don't want to risk exposing wildlife to man-made chemicals. It has a very folky feel to it, like your kid made it in shop class or something (and did a really good job). The suctions cups seem to hold the birdhouse to glass nicely, and of course it's cool to see the inner workings of a birds life. PLEASE don't forget to put something up on the other side of the glass to give your guests privacy most of the time, even if it's just a piece of dark construction paper.Good stuff.

Nice construction...
... but I'd preferred it be lacquered so I wouldn't have to have done it myself. If you don't, it'll rot in a few years. Also, if you don't want to take the chance of little birdlettes dying in a horrible fall, invest in a spring-loaded window rod to place directly beneath it so it doesn't put a lot of stress on the oftentimes unreliable suction cups. Or put it on top of a ledge on your window sill. When the whole family is home, it gets heavy in there.

-) Its amazing how the tiny birds can build such an intricate ...
I put this up on the outside of the bathroom window which has a window shade inside so as not to disturb the birdie. It took about 3-4 weeks before a "tenant" moved in. Everyone was skeptical but now they have to eat their words because a little wren has built a nest and if we carefully open the shades a little, you can watch her while you sit on the toilet:-) Its amazing how the tiny birds can build such an intricate nest. The grandchildren were absolutely delighted to watch as she would peek her little head in and cock it to the side to look at them. Can't tell if she has laid her eggs yet but we are keeping a close watch for little chicks soon.

So far so good.
Just ordered this and put it up. Within a couple days a bird found it and started building a nest inside. Let's see what happens. Will post a photo soon.

Loved the product, no birds nesting yet.
I followed the instructions in order to stick the box to the window. It has been about a month now since I put it up, it is still stuck to the window. There are some small bushes and a rhododendron tree in my front yard. I put up the nest box on my front yard window such that it is hidden behind a rhododendron tree I have also kept a bird feeder in my front yard to attract birds. The birds come to the bird feeder, but none has come near the nest box yet.

beautiful window nest box
This is beautifully made and was shipped very promptly. I can't wait to watch some baby birds grow up. People that are saying that your birds left, you need to read about the product. Birds do need their privacy. You have to purchase the one way frame separately. I urge you to purchase the frame before you put up the bird house, cause if a bird builds their nest in it and gets spooked they will leave the babies and the babies will die. Please pay attention before purchasing stuff. This doesn't come with the one way frame. Don't deprive the sellers of ratings because you neglect to read about what is included. I hope you all enjoy your bird houses as much as I do.
