For the Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control, switch from milliliters to ounces by simply pressing and holding the 2 middle button knobs, CUP and STRENGTH, this will switch the default setting to the appropriate selection between ounces and milliliters.

Are you really saying to use tap water and not water from our reverse osmosis system in the pot?

Reverse osmosis water makes terrible tasting coffee. We "remineralize" our R/O water to between 60-75ppm. This is what major national coffee chains do. If you have an R/O system it easy to add a re-mineralization cartridge and monitor. The cartridge will last several years. You're instahot machines , ice makers and coffee makers will work better with remineralized R/O water.

Can you brew with ground coffee or do you have to start with whole beans each time?

The BDC650BSS Grind Control features a 'Pre-Ground' mode which bypasses the grinder so that pre-ground coffee can be used within the gold tone or a paper filter.

How does this model differ from the older model and are the parts and carafe interchangeable?

The only difference is that you can adjust the coarseness of the grind. The carafe is interchangeable with the last model.
