I swear, every shampoo manufacturer known to mankind has been thinning its formulation down to the wateriest version they can get people to still buy. So frustrating. The thing is, a thick, concentrated shampoo is so much more effective at cleaning your hair, and such a much better value for the customer. But in the era of never-ending corporate greed, they want you to buy more, More... MORE. So, the shampoo manufacturers have nearly all made their products thinner to force you use more, and buy more product more often. Shameless. But, not all of them. I made it my mission to find a shampoo that is thick, effective, and affordable. It took months of testing, but in the end I rediscovered Prell, and what a relief that was. Prell was around in the 80s when I was a kid, but I never thought much about it until recently. After trying dozens of shampoos over the last half-a-year, when I opened the container of Prell for the first time in decades, I immediately knew my search was finally over. What a relief! Prell is so well formulated. The viscosity of this shampoo is the thickest I have found on the market today (February 2026). I can use the smallest dot in my hand and my hair gets perfectly clean so quickly and easily. I can put slightly more on my bath brush and scrub my entire body thoroughly and effectively. This product is so amazing. It is refreshing to find a manufacturer that is still committed to making the best product they can, and not the most money they can. Bravo, shampoo people! At 76 years old I am still using Prell. It has a nice clean smell suds up great and rinses out great. Since I have gray hair now, it still gives my hair plenty of shine and is gentle on my scalp.

A little goes a long Way. Makes hair soft, clean smelling and refreshed. Gives hair shine. Great value for the money. Prell has outlasted other brands and remains a great shampoo product! Will continue to buy!

I have bounced around, trying all kinds of shampoo brands. From cheaper to more expensive, nothing compares to how Prell leaves my hair and scalp healthy, squeaky clean and light and fluffy. I tend to have an oily composition scalp, so the conditioner isn't really necessary for me. I've tried it, and it worked fine, without too much weight on my hair. So, it's out there to accompany this shampoo if you usually use conditioner. Call it nostalgia, that cool green color, or awesome scent, something is alluring about this shampoo. Perhaps it's because: IT SIMPLY WORKS!

This was a really good deal they were priced right so I bought three bottles. This is a excellent shampoo that gets your hair very clean. You do not use very much just a small amount, gently work it in, and rinse it out of your hair. It will not build up in your hair if you use it sparingly rinsing thoroughly. Your hair will be shiny, soft, and smelling clean with that nice smell of this shampoo. This is a real classic shampoo that hasn't changed and has been around forever. It has a really rich thick lather that no other shampoo has. Strong enough to remove stains from clothing just pre treat with this shampoo and wash in the washing machine it doesn't damage fibers. You can hand wash your delicate clothing using a sparing amount and it rinses out. Fun fact if you look up the old commercials on YouTube for Prell Shampoo one of the ladies who starred in a James Bond film Maude Adams is in the commercial titled - Come to isle of green - Liquid Prell Shampoo - (1973)

Great product but way too expensive. Can buy in local pharmacy stores for more than half price.

Wow, Prell! We haven't seen this brand in a long time! So glad to see an old favorite again. At the price point we purchased it at, it was a great value for the money. Love the scent and we're so glad that the scent, cleaning power, moisture level and so on, hasn't changed over the years. the bottle arrived in perfect condition, no leaks. Will watch prices and purchase again in the future, when it's at the price we paid for it again.

I dont know if its the product i received or its all like that but i had no problems with my scalp until i started using it , my scalp started getting really itchy everytime i use it and i get breakouts all over my head

I am 80 and began using Prell as a very young man. At one point the company changed the formulation and I stopped buying it. The reason was that it no longer suds adequately and did not get my hair clean. I suspect it was a cheaper formulation. Apparently others felt the same way as the "Classic" Prell quickly returned. I went back to it as it has been the only shampoo that I have found works well for me
