Review: Why green is better than purple (in my opinion) - This is a review that is comparing these green "Flents Contour Ear Plugs - Soft Comfort!" to the purple ones, which are called "Flents Quiet Time Soft Comfort Ear Plugs." At the bottom I pasted a general review that doesn't compare the two so it isn't nearly as specific if you'd prefer to just read that. ------------------------------------------------------------- I like these green contour ear plugs way more than the purple ones. I have been using both for years and I now have a strong preference for the green ones. Why I like the green ones more: #1 - They are WAY more comfortable!! The #1 reason I switched. #2 - They are easier to put in place.* #3 - They stay in place better. #4 - They work better at blocking noise, but only b/c I can place them in my ear better. #5 - They are bright green! If I wear them during the day this is helpful. People can see them much easier than the purple ones and know that I can't hear them. ------------------------------------------------------------- *They are easier to put in place in my ear now that I have had some practice. When I first started using ear plugs I had a lot of difficulty placing them until I watched a youtube video and actually read the directions that comes with the Flent ear plugs (sadly). When I first started using ear plugs the purple ones were way easier to place because they are so much harder and thus stiffer. These green ones will bend if you don't place them correctly which was why I couldn't use so many other ear plugs at first. Now that I know how to insert them the green ones are easier for me because they are soft enough to really shove in. That being said, for me the green ones work better than the purple ones because I can reliably insert them correctly!! The purple ones are hard enough that if i don't take the time to place them carefully they will push themselves part way out of my ear. In that situation the stiffness of the purple ones is what allows them to propel themselves out of my ear if i don't hold my finger there for a very long time. I may have to reinsert the purple ones once or twice before I put them in correctly. In the end, I can insert the purple ones correctly if put forth the time and effort, which wasn't always true for other brands. The green ones are not nearly as stiff so if I place them perfectly I don't even have to keep my finger on my ear to make it stay in place. All in all, the green ones are simply easier and faster to place, for me personally, which means they work better. Lastly, the purple ones made my ears sore! The green ones are more comfortable and my ears are not sore anymore. I do wear them all night, every night. I'm a college student and at times I will sleep for 12 hours with the green ones in and once I take them out it doesn't feel like I had anything in my ear. That is why they beat the purple ones for me. Hands down. ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- A general review that applies to both the purple and these green ear plugs: I love these ear plugs! They work very well. I sleep with them every night. I do have trouble putting in ear plugs just right and something about how these are made makes it so I can easily put them in right. I think it's that, compared to other ear plugs, these are easier to roll up and continue to stay rolled up until I have them in place in my ear. They are the only ones that I can sleep in because when I put other brands in my ears incorrectly they stick out and eventually catch on the pillow and come out during the night. I can put these in correctly so they don't stick out and stay in place all night. I don't hear any snoring from the other side of the bed and I sleep peacefully :) I feel I sleep better with them in even if there is no loud noise around me because I don't hear any noise from the apartment building I live in or the nearby roads and parking lot. I wish I started using these a long time ago. Worth every penny!
Review: Best Foam Earplugs I've Tried So Far - *Before starting the review let me say this, if foam earplugs don't work for you, then you are not putting them in correctly* Step #1: The adult ear NEEDS to be pulled UP and Back to straighten the ear canal. Just FYI, in children under 3 years of age you would pull the ear DOWN and BACK to straighten the ear canal (though I don't know if earplugs are even recommended for children that young). Step #2: Roll the foam earplug into a tight cylinder and insert deep into the straightened ear canal without stuffing. Step #3: Keep one finger lightly pressed on the exposed portion of the earplug while it expands, then release your ear. Step #4: Repeat process with the other ear. Step #5: Test hearing after insertion and prior to exposure to dangerously loud noises. Sounds should be very muffled with proper insertion (yes, even with cheap/low-quality foam earplugs). Review: I would estimate I've tried 5 or 6 different types of earplugs before these and these are honestly better than the previous foam earplugs in every aspect, other than price. That being said, the price is still reasonable and they can be reused a couple times depending on how clean you ears are lol Function: Foam earplugs are generally great for hearing protecting and these are no different. No pressure or awkward weight on the head like from the earmuff style hearing protection. These stand out from the competition by being noticeably quieter than any other I've tried. Most people are familiar with the orange foam earplugs, but these are softer foam and larger diameter. This allows them to compress more and expand more, which means they can be placed deeper in the ear canal and fit tighter to the ear canal without producing excessive pressure/discomfort. An important aspect of these is that they cut down on the noise level while allowing for some hearing. This sounds like a negative, but it almost never is. Realistically, at a shooting range you need to hear others when they speak loudly to maintain proper safety. When you're asleep, you still need to wake up to that dreaded alarm clock. I think you get the picture, but these make any normal extreme noise exposure safe and any annoying roommate noises disappear. Unless you work with jets, jackhammers, or regular/extended firearm use, these are more than sufficient. Fit: I started off by explaining proper insertion just because some people are confused on that aspect. If you have normal ears and any brand of foam earplugs, then you should get serious sound reduction with proper insertion. So it isn't about if these earplugs fit you, they will and so would the orange ones from Walmart. BUT these soft contoured earplugs do fit better and make the insertion process easier than anything else I've tried. They compress a lot with very little pressure and expand quite slowly. One tip with these is to roll the entire earplug into a cylinder, including the flared end. This ensures deep insertion and awesome hearing protection. Comfort: Ok so we are finally to an area to where these earplugs outmatch the cheap competitors completely. Some cheap foam earplugs are soft and comfortable for hours (even overnight occasionally), but some cheap foam earplugs are not very soft and expand quickly. These aren't really comfortable enough for extended wear in my opinion. These contoured foam earplugs are what I consider to be very soft. They are something like a large soft marshmallow in their density if that makes sense. They compress freely, but still expand back to their previous shape. They are the absolute perfect level of softness and they have never caused me any discomfort. Who Should Buy These? If you ever find foam earplugs uncomfortable, then these are for you. If you need a pair to sleep in, yep. Or if the cheap foam earplugs are letting in a little too much noise, these will cut the noise quite a bit. Also, if you are looking for true silence, then you need to check out the 3M Peltor X-Series Earmuffs (NRR 31dB). I wear those when I need to focus and don't need to hear anything at all. I wear the soft contoured foam earplugs in combination with these earmuffs sometimes and I honestly couldn't hear someone talking loudly directly at me. Wearing that combo will turn loud noises into barely discernible noises. I sometimes use that combo for study or meditation. I don't know if anyone else is just looking for absolute silence, but if so, I just saved you some research lol

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will these be comfortable for side sleeping?**
A: Absolutely, I side sleep myself with no problems.

**Q: Ear Plug Itching issues after a few days of use. I feel my ears itching sometimes during the day. Any suggestions of how to resolve this issue? thks**
A: I’ve had that problem with these types of ear plugs. I’m sensitive to latex so I figure I’m sensitive to whatever these are made of. I tried a pair of Flents Quiet Please which are the beige ones with the straight ends on both sides and don’t have a problem with itching and they work better with noise cancellation.

**Q: Hey guys, do these earplugs hurt smaller ear canals after a few minutes in? (All the earplugs I've tried don't hurt until about an hour in...**
A: I have small ear canals and these are the best and most comfortable of all the ones I've tried. The previous ones I liked were the flange-type silicone ear plugs, but they hurt after a while. These don't, and they stay in. So glad I found these.

**Q: Why did the price jump from 3+ to 8+ ? Thats over double the price. Thats a lot more than inflation**
A: Not sure about the pricing crease but I know they're harder to find in the stores so I just pay it cause I can't live without them working night shift
