An Excellent Product - Update 7/10/12
For several years, I purchased Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash from WalMart. It was featured in the produce section, which made sense. For apples, pears, potatoes, oranges etc. I spray the straight Fit on them and scrub them a little bit with my hand. Then I rinse them thoroughly under the faucet. I place grapes, strawberries, lettuce etc in a colander, dunk the colander in a 25% Fit/75% water solution then rinse them thoroughly. As another customer noted, there is no aftertaste and, judging by the muddy brown appearance of the wash water, this product is certainly doing its job. After WalMart remodeled, I couldn't find Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash or any similar product anywhere in their store. When I asked the produce manager, I was told that it was no longer available. My response was "Oh, yeah! We'll see about that." Sure enough, I found Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash at Amazon on my first try and ordered it immediately. My order came promptly with no problems and I was, as always, extremely pleased with Amazon's service. Whenever our local merchants complain about their customers buying from Amazon instead of from them, I always give the same answer. First of all, with the exception of WalMart, most of these stores keep 'bankers' hours'. They open on weekdays at 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. They close at noon on Saturdays and are not open on Sundays. Since I work from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. for five days a week, this is not convenient for me. At Amazon, on the other hand, I can shop anytime. Secondly, the local merchants don't stock the products I want. i.e. When I went looking for Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash in our local grocery, hardware and drug stores, their managers claimed they'd never heard of it. When they offered to 'special order' it on condition that I agree to buy a full case and pay their markup, shipping charges and sales taxes besides, I said 'thanks, but no thanks'. While my home state, among others, has been trying to legally force Amazon to open their customer records so that they can retroactively collect sales taxes, that isn't the reason I shop here. While I love Super Saver Shipping etc, I come here because Amazon offers the products I want when I want at a price I can afford to pay. Our local merchants on the other hand, don't and won't. Their usual excuse is "The warehouse doesn't have it". If our local merchants would keep convenient hours and stock the products I want, I would buy from them. However, when WalMart unilaterally decided to discontinue this product, no one else was interested in stocking it. I know because I asked them after WalMart didn't even bother to acknowledge my email. As I said, Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash is an excellent product. I have been using it for a number of years and will continue to order to do so for as long as it's available. Update 7/10/12 Well, what do you know? WalMart, for whatever reason, has actually started carrying Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash in their produce department again. While I'm happily saying Hallelujah and Amen, I plan to stock up while it's still locally available in case they change their minds again. <g>

Clean your food!
Upon the advice of my daughter, I started using this product about 3 months ago. I was surprised at how different fruits and vegetables taste when cleaned. You can feel it get a tomato or an apple squeaky clean. Lettuce tastes sweeter. And who knows what you are washing off the fruit or vegetable that is making it taste bitter or off. I can highly recommend this. Try it. I started out with the spray bottle but was so impressed with the difference in my produce that I bought these refills to continue using it.

Great for getting wax and dirt off produce
This mild solution is quite effective in getting waxy coatings off produce like apples, bell peppers, tomatoes, etc. AND, it is great in getting dirt off of potatoes, salad greens, and fresh green beans, strawberries, and so on. I buy this bigger jug and refill the small spray bottle version. No, this product is not a cure-all. The makers don't claim to eliminate every possible chemical or pesticide, nor wash off all germs. However, you will notice much cleaner produce with a reduction in wax and dirt, which you don't want to eat anyway. I always use it to wash my pre-packed salad greens, even though the package says triple washed, and I am always glad I do because I see the color of the water after the greens are rinsed off. Who knows what I would have eaten without Fit. Here's how I use it for salad greens: -put the salad mix in a colander -spray Fit generously on the leaves, and toss the pieces with your hand to get the solution to mix through the greens -rinse with the sink sprayer to give the salad a good shower, again hand tossing the leaves to make sure the water gets through everything -gently shake in the colander and then use a salad spinner to wick away the extra moisture. Here's how I use it on fruit like apples/peaches/pears/oranges: -Wash each fruit individually by praying the fruit's skin with Fit -Gently rub all over the skin (like you're washing your own hands with soap) -Then rinse off To soak larger batches of fruit instead of washing individually: -fill the sink with a couple inches of water, pour in Fit per the directions on the bottle (it will look a little opaque/milky) -add the multiple fruits like many apples, pears, peaches, all at once -roll around a bit to coat/wash each one -let them sit in there for a couple minutes -take out one by one and rinse, then empty the sink (you'll see all the yucky stuff in the bottom of the sink - jackpot!)

Tainted product received, color of urine - should be clear
This product used to be good. Clear liquid that worked well. I have ordered this several times in the past and all was good. I read the reviews and see many people indicating they have received a product that looked tainted and threw it away. I thought I would be safe ordering from the manufacturers Amazon web store, HPB Inc. I was wrong. I received product that was the color of Urine. No way I am going to put that on anything I eat. Product is not returnable. If you persist and go through the automated Amazon customer contact system you can get the item refunded. 11/8/22 update: I contacted the manufacturer directly and received a prompt response. They agreed to ship me replacement product. The replacement product received directly from the manufacturer was exactly what I was expecting - the correct color and smell. Kudos to them for their prompt response. The response from the manufacturer about the color was: "Our Fit Organic Fruit & Vegetable Wash is a food sanitation product with a formula that doesnโt expire. Due to the natural, organic ingredients in our products the appearance can vary between batches. Slight yellow coloring can happen and it is still safe to use."

I like the stuff
I have used Fit for several years, and have always liked the product. Recently the local supermarkets in the area can't seem to decide if they are going to carry it or not, so I bought the 3-pack from Amazon. Based on history, it probably lasts well over a year. The Good Points: * I am not a chemist, so I have no idea if Fit removes any pesticides, harmful wax, dirt and grime, or left-over pixie dust. What I do know is that fruits and vegetables SEEM to be cleaner. * Fit will lather up a bit when you spray it on. I assume that the lather means it is removing the dirt and grime from everyone who had handled the food since it was last washed. (As an aside, why do people think it is OK to let their kids handle all the apples in the produce bin?) * The Fit bottle stays on the kitchen counter at all times, and it serves as a reminder to wash stuff before I eat it. It is worth having around for that reason alone. * In the only true test I have ever tried, I have rinsed strawberries under cold water, then sprayed them with Fit, then rinsed them again. There is always dirt visibly removed with the 2nd rinse. (And no, I never tried a double-blind test with a second water-only rinse). The Bad Points: * None as far as I am concerned. I am sure I am getting ripped off buying Fit rather than mixing up some combination of lemon juice and club soda that I could no doubt find on the internet...but to be honest, the stuff doesn't cost enough to bother with. Summary I like the stuff, and honestly believe that fruits and vegetables are cleaner, and therefore healthier if I use it. It doesn't seem to add any tastes or residue to foods. As far as I am concerned, I THINK it works, and don't believe it causes any harm. For me, that makes it worth the cost.

Great veggie washer.
My favourite veggie wash. Fruits and vegetables look and feel noticeably cleaner, and it smells nice. Side note: Pitney Bowes is the worst shipping company ever. I ordered this item and they lost it. Ordered it again, and they lost it again. Ordered again and paid for the priority shipping, no problems.

Not even close to the original
This didn't smell or feel like the original Fit I've purchased in the grocery store. It certainly didn't remove the wax from my fruit like the others have in the past. Very disappointed.

one container was damaged on arrival
I am sure the product is very good I was waiting for it for months because they had no more stock. Upon arrival one of the three containers was empty, It arrived damaged and the cardboard box was soaked. It was repacked by post Canada into a plastic bag. We have started to use the product and are satisfied with it.
