I haven't put ashes in yet, as I'm still waiting for them, but I did put some of my precious doggy's black hairs in it for now. You can definitely see them, and it makes the glass look like tourmalinated quartz (which I think is pretty cool). I like the heft and fit, and find the overall size of the ring to be perfect. My only complaint is the packaging. It did not come in a nice black box as advertised, but a brown paper one. This was placed in a baggie, inside of a padded envelope. During shipping the ring had been knocked loose from the inner foam, and was flopping around inside freely.
