Well against all the things that most if not all women are afraid off.she is a great role model and i read this at a time i was going thorugh a tough time. I conquered my battles and i always read it for inspiration and motivation. Thank you for practical tips. I saw her interviews on youtube and i was tempted to buy her book. I was more than impressed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good book *by R***A on 13 February 2023* The self-help treaties have become a genre itself. I've reviewed some other books in these categories, from the best-seller "Atomic Habits" to the very popular, and extremely well written, Dr Julie's "Why Has Nobody Told me This Before". Not everything published in this line is good - on the contrary, the level is poor. But those two aforementioned books are worthy exceptions. Evy Poumpouras "Becoming Bulletproof" it is an exception too. This one more in that long list of help-yourself-to-be-better, yet from a slightly different angle - public service. It is an uneven book, without a very clear center, with prose that could be better and which could have used a serious edition. And yet it is a good volume, with plenty of simple, handy pieces of advice and a touching tale.Ms Poumpouras is a former secret service agent (and a trained policewoman) very proud of her career. With a knack for psychology and keen to share her long experience, she is obviously at ease telling her life in the service and protecting dignitaries. Along this tale, she rambles a little, and the book gets too diverse. A bit of biography. Then she drops some philosophical pointers here and there (her Greek ascendancy comes quite useful in this department). Then there's some parts in which she shares tips on physical training; then there is a bit of security within the household - how to prevent attacks and such. And this is what I mentioned before: the book is too varied, lacking a clear focus: the reader at some point gets lost, he doesn't know if this is self-help or a fitness written class. At moments, it's all too much, as when the author explains how to sit in a restaurant to prevent attacks (namely: with the back against a wall and if possible looking at the restaurant's entrance - exactly, too much).Another minus is the prose. Look at the author online and you'll see a good public speaker, sure of what she's saying and giving an impression of accountability. In interviews, Ms Poumpouras handles the questions with grace and replies with clarity. Yet she is not a natural writer. There's something in the style that lacks charm. The story is very interesting; how it's written is not. There's something missing in order to keep the reader's attention. Also, other minor flaws: to make a point, rather than build the paragraph, she uses and accumulates adjectives, and "outstanding", "enormous", "shocking" and similar terms become constant. On the other hand, the book lacks some irony. At parts, it becomes too serious, almost solemn.And yet the book, overall, does work.
