Solid Value
I've been converted to SRAM parts and components over the past year or so. They've come a long way. Taking on the rebuild of my 10 year old Mongoose, I decided that I would use all SRAM parts due to my experience with their solid construction and general high value in price. Please keep in mind that low price does not mean cheap in this instance. This crankset is solidly constructed and I would value it at other cranksets I've seen at at least twice the price.Once I got the old crankset off, the SRAM installed very easily and turns like butter with a powerspline bottom bracket. I also replaced my whole power train with SRAM X4 parts (derailleurs, rear gear cassette, shifters and chain) and so far they appear to complement each other nicely. Shifting is smooth and precise, although indexing the gears properly with the 8-speed cassette took me some time.My only watchout is that some of the SRAM parts here may have the wrong picture in the description. Read the description carefully to ensure you get the part you want. I originally ordered a crankset that had a picture of a 3 speed but it turned out to only be a 1 speed (which is what it said if I had read the details). No problem returning it, just set my build back a few days.

which is fine for my use
My OEM crankset on my bike was a Truvativ FiveD, and I needed a replacement after a pedal got "bent" in the threads, effectively cross-threading it badly. Since my bottom bracket was old and worn out, I decided to replace both at the same time. The bike came with JIS square taper originally, so I thought I would try out Powerspline. I'm not worried about it becoming obsolete or anything, since I only replaced my BB and crankset for the first time in 12 years since I bought the bike. By the time this crankset wears out, I'll just upgrade to whatever the new style BB interface is. The crank arms are beefy alloy, and seem to be just as solid as my old ones. The rings are steel, which is fine for my use. My old crankset had alloy rings, which eventually wore out and I replaced them with steel to save a few bucks. These rings are also bolted in, not riveted, so if you want to change them out you can.

You just can't beat that
I scored all of the parts to fix my creaking BB and my worn out crank set including the tools to do it for less than half of the shops hourly rate!Brand new BB, brand spankin new cranks and a BB tool for under $30!? Yes please!!This crankset replaced my square drive truvative "ISO FLOW" crank and is nearly identical to it other than the powerspline bb.

Works like a champ!
I needed to replace my crank set because I had bent the outer chain ring, and it cost about as much for the new ring that this crank cost. With the proper tools, I had this changed out in no time. After a little adjustment on the derailleur I was riding fine once again....without any annoying rubbing noise from the chain contacting the derailleur due to the bent ring.

Shifts nice and isn't heavy for the price
Replaced my original truvativ crankset. Shifts nice and isn't heavy for the price. Holding up well after snowy and dirty rides.
