## Description

desertcart.com : Total Bar | Exercise Bar, Workout Bar and Rehabilitation Equipment | Includes Carrying Case, Nutrition Booklet, and Exercise Booklet : Home Gyms : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Nothing to compare to, but love what I got... - I wanted to get a new workout gadget to play with and I saw someone using a BodyBlade, so I thought I'd pick one up - then I saw the price, much more than something I didn't feel strongly compelled to buy. Thanks to good old desertcart suggestions, I spotted this, and at the price, it was worth taking a gamble on. As far as workmanship on the product, it seems to be well built and thought out - to be honest, I'm not sure what the competition does to warrant 3x the price, but from my perspective, the Total Bar is a great value (very few other workout things I have cost as little). Now from the workout perspective - I'm a fan of functional training, I have a Tuff Stuff corner functional trainer that I really love, so I'm already a believer of this kind of equipment. That being said, I was open but skeptical about how good of a workout that swinging around some rubber ends on a composite tube would be... For me, this was akin to when I first used a VersaClimber (if you haven't tried one, then definitely do it) - it's best summed up as deceptively difficult. It's *VERY* easy to pickup and just sort of do it - and it's actually a pretty natural device, so it's also easy to do things correctly, which is even better. At first you think, "Bah, this is way too easy..." - then keep doing it for a minute - "ok, maybe not so easy..." - then do it for a minute or two more "yeah, this can definitely be a good workout". Will it replace my other equipment? Not on your life - I love my treadmill and functional trainer, but will this start being a part of my rotation to mix things up? Absolutely, for me if gives a good burn, it's quick to setup and get going - not much more to ask. My only reservations (which I'll update this review if it ever happens), is whether or not this thing will break at some point, and if it does, how painful an experience it is. ;) On the suggestion side, I wish it could be made to collapse down and travel well, because if it did, it would absolutely be something I would take on trips for easy hotel workouts - but as it is, it's way too long.
Review: Good Value. Different to a Bodyblade - This is well made and good value for money. I didnt want to spend 2-3 times this much to get a body blade and this was a very good alternative. As with others, I have found that the frequency you flex this at is much higher than the bodyblade, and it definitely takes more effort than the bodyblade One thing I will mention that I didnt see in the other reviews is about a difference between this and a bodyblade: When using a bodyblade I have noticed it's annoying tendency to 'twitch' when you are flexing it in a way that is not squared-off to the flat blade - This is because it can only flex perpendicular to its flat surface, so if you are flexing it in a different direction it twitches and momentarily kills the movement. The Fitryo doesnt have this limitation since it will flex in any direction, but this is good and bad... The twitching of the bodyblade is annoying, but it makes you flex it in the correct direction. With the Fitryo you can essentially 'cheat' and flex it in a different direction to the one you should be doing. Still, it's a good exercise tool Bottom line: I would still definitely recommend this product. Well made and good value for money. Just understand that this is different to a bodyblade

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this arrive in one 5 ft. piece, or does it require any assembly?**
A: Hello,The Total Bar is in one 5-foot piece. There is no assembly required. Thanks for your interest,Fitryo Team

**Q: Does this work the core? or is it just upper body fitness?**
A: it works your whole body. the areas are dependent on the exercise you do too. I use this website: http://www.fitryo.com/total-bar/exercises/I mainly got this because I do pilates and wanted to extend my workouts at home when I don't go to the pilates studio. if you're familiar with pilates then you will see how some of the exercises work like pilates moves by toning one area and working another. also, my husband started using this recently too and likes it specifically for his upper arms. he says the core must be engaged when he uses it or else he wouldn't feel all over. the core is everything so even though it may not seem like you are using it you really are. this is not an extreme tool so don't expect more than toning and defining and building on your current workouts. overall I really like it and once you get used to it you'll like it even more. it really does work! enjoy.

**Q: I see this works for rehabilitation but will a person who is out of shape be able to use it? I see different comments indicating it's hard to use.**
A: The person out of shape will be able to use it. More importantly, will the person stay with the exercise bar in order to master the coordination needed to have it work well. It is not hard to master. It is, as with all other activities, a matter of practice. Is the person out of shape willing to put in the practice. Being out of shape is not the problem. The problem arises when the person does not put in the practice time necessary and then blames it on being out of shape. Use it and you will master it; don't use it and you won't master it. That is the hard and easy of using the exercise bar. Ben

**Q: Are there exercises for full body to include legs, rear? Or by doing the upper, it'll help with lower?**
A: I'm a personal trainer and in my opinion, this bar works your core mostly and not the legs or rear. There is a great emphasis on trunk stabilization. Depending on your goals, the lower body can increase endurance by using the bar if you hold a position; (a lunge for example) while using the bar. But I wouldn't expect significant changes in muscle growth or fat loss in the lower body by using this tool. Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Total Bar vs. BodyBlade
*by D***R on February 15, 2014*

I owed a number of BodyBlades (different sizes) years before I tried the Total Bar. While they both work on the same principles, they get there a little differently in my opinion. BodyBlade: It is heavier than the TotalBar and since the natural frequency of vibration is less than the TotalBar it has more range of motion. This makes it more forgiving for a beginner who can vary the frequency much easier with the BodyBlade. I can get an aerobic and/or an anaerobic workout with the BodyBlade. It can be somewhat of a relaxing workout. I can workout with these for minutes at a time. Total Bar: At 270 cycles per minute, this thing cranks. This is one fast anaerobic (interval) workout. If you don't use this at its natural frequency it just doesn't feel like a workout at all. Use it at a fast frequency or don't use it. I generally can't last a minute on any of the exercises. Heartrate skyrockets with this thing. It is a third the cost or better than the BodyBlade Pro. Bottom Line: Both BodyBlade and Total Bar can be reasonable strength workouts with the edge going to Total Bar for strength, especially for good interval workouts. I've been unable to use Total Bar for a traditional aerobic workout though interval work can be used to gain aerobic fitness. I've used BodyBlade for aerobic workouts and it provides a less intense warm up exercise. If you're a beginner and can afford the BodyBlade, it is probably your best choice. If you want to generate lactic acid fast, get a Total Bar. Both brands seem well made to me and have lasted years in the case of BodyBlade and months for the newer Total Bar.
