Says part 4 tested and approved... What does that actually mean? What is its fire resistance rated at?

Part 4 is part of the British Standard/ISO related to thermal properties on the material. I cannot answer the fire resistance question.

Would this be ok to put in my aviary to keep it warm in the winter

It might be safe only if the birds do not have to come into contact with it as their toes might become entangled in the webbing of the material.

How do you cut this? I’ve tried kitchen scissors, Stanley knife and and a saw for insulation. None of them are very effective

I used a combination of Stanley knife and scissors, but it was difficult! Always cut a little longer and you will get a tight fit.

What surface in square metres does 1 pack cover, please?

Sorry for the delay but just back from holiday. I used the stuff at my daughter's house which is some distance away so it's difficult to be precise. I assumed the coverage would be as advertised ( 8m X 370mm which equates to almost 3 sq. metres per roll) and calculated what I needed from that; it worked well. I laid it on a boarded out flat floor, double thickness with the joints across on one layer and length ways on the next. The difference in temperature in the room is noticeable apparently. I used these narrow rolls to get through the trap door easily. After using the old glass fibre in the past this stuff is a pleasure to lay.
