It isn't significant but his head has to be forward a little bit to look straight ahead. The spikes are rubber so they do bend. We have him in a high back bike seat attachment to my husbands bike. I know some to not go all the way up to the top of their heads so I think it would depend on what kind of set up you have for your child if it will be an issue. He is always looking left or right though when we go for bike rides so it really hasn't been a bother. Would I buy this helmet again? Yes. He loves it and wears it around the house just because. When he grows out of it will I take the spikes into consideration when selecting the next one as he gets bigger, yes. Hope this helps! **Q: Does this adjust?
