This toaster will change your life!
I've been shopping for toaster ovens for months, to replace the ancient, rusted, falling apart, firetrap that recently resided on my counter, but just hadn't found one that appealed to me. Most of them get way too hot - dangerous with small, curious children running about - and really don't seem to actually toast all that well, based on the reviews. Finally, in a moment of pure revelation, it occurred to me that I don't actually do anything except toast in my toaster oven, so why not just purchase a regular toaster?! OK, so on to the Bodum toaster. Amazing! First off, it's gorgeous to look at, with its rounded exterior & sleek and simple buttons. Second, thanks to the silicone wrapper, the exterior stays room temperature during toasting so a lot less danger there. And thirdly, the toast, oh, the toast! When I handed the first slice to my oldest, he looked at it in wonder and said, "Mom, you've made me the perfect piece of toast!" And it is perfect - evenly toasted, top to bottom, front and back, with perfect toast lines. Toast-y on the outside and warm throughout, but not too dry. We've also done frozen waffles (perfection!), Hawaiian rolls (almost brought me to tears), and pop tarts (amazing!). Everything seems to cook so evenly, exactly what I needed in a toaster. Very easy to clean, too. The rolls were a little crumbly, but the crumb tray of the toaster slides right out for easy emptying.

Good looking
This is a great toaster that works perfect and easy to maintain. The warming feature is more useful than I imagined, I use it all the time. It also comes in nice colors. This toaster still barley works after a year and half. I liked the looks but it has been a problem for about a year, the plastic on the top has melted ,it would not engage all the time ,doesn't toast well either. Bodum is an expensive brand but this toaster is real junk. It seems to have been designed by someone that doesn't toast bread, once again design over function. The amount of junk out there is stunning, I have just replaced this one.

Finally a toaster that toasts!!
After purchasing several toasters over the last couple of years, I found myself reading yet another review on a toaster here on Amazon. A reviewer mentioned their frustration with that toaster and said they were giving up and just buying a Bodum. I had no idea Bodum was making toasters and immediately looked it up, read the reviews and ordered for next day delivery! I was so frustrated with our DeLonghi/Kitchen Aid/Cuisinart toasters and needed to pop the bread down twice and even turning it around to get an even toast. Not the biggest stress in life, but I mean, with all the technological advances, why is the toaster stuck in the past...wait the past had better toasters than we are able to get today....UNTIL NOW!!! I don't normally write reviews, but this toaster warranted taking the time. It perfectly toasted my english muffin in one shot (no turning, retoasting, etc.!!) Wow, I can put bread in, press down the lever and toast pops up, evenly browned and beautiful! Oh yeah, that's what toasters are supposed to do, I had forgotten! Consumer Reports rates this well, but not number one. I've tried the number ones and they didn't work half as well as this toaster. It doesn't take up alot of counter space and the rubberized sides mean no burning of your hands when you touch the toaster when in use. BOTTOM LINE: BEST TOASTER I'VE OWNED IN MANY MANY YEARS!

Great when it works
This is a very attractive modern toaster that will complement any kitchen. The buttons are soft to the touch and it is very simple to use. The coloring on the buttons is beautiful. The finish is a matte rubbery plastic that feels substantial and high-end. Mine broke after five months of use. It will only toast one side of the bread, so I have to switch it around (taking double the time). The button will sometimes not stay down when you push it, and I have not determined the cause of this, but it happens intermittently. The bread warming function is a great bonus that I use on occasion.

At last - Evenly Toasted Bread
This Toaster makes the best toast I can remember making. The Toast is actually toasted evenly and the same on both sides. This may be because it's new but I think it will remain that way because of the way the coils are. I like the button that stops the toaster immediately, much easier than the old method. I've used the Pop-up warmer for reheating home make waffles and they heated up perfectly. It's a nice looking toasted and does not get too hot to touch. The only thing now is if it remains this way for a long time, and does not break down. I have already recommended this to a relative.

Great little toaster with a flair!
The Bodum Bistro two slice toaster is really great. It's pretty basic, with what you'd expect on a toaster and what it's supposed to do. Its design is what we really like about it... it has flair! It's a matte black color and has an unusual shape. Since it's black it fits in well with our black and white kitchen appliance decor. It's not just an ordinary toaster shape. It is either retro, ultra-modern, or a combination of the two. We can't quite decide, but we like it. The toast is evenly toasted every time. The bun warmer really does work, too.

OK while it lasted
Admittedly I purchased this mostly for aesthetics and it did look great. Why I needed my toaster to stand out, I cannot say. It worked fairly well, toasting evenly, albeit a little more slowly than the T-Fal it replaced. Once I figured out its quirks, it wasn't a bad toaster. However, in light of its demise after a mere seven months, I can give it only 2 stars. It's as toaster; it isn't supposed to break until you hate it and want it to break. The Good - Toasted evenly, never ate my toast - Looked great - Cool touch exterior did not burn me once The Bad - Died after seven months, now it's a terrible waste of landfill space Here are the other minor issues I had with it: - It was a bit of an overachiever when ejecting toast, especially English muffins which had about a 1 in 3 chance of landing on the counter or floor. - It is a bit taller than other toasters, making it slightly more clumsy when placed under cabinets - The crumb tray is too small and there are many slots which seemed to constantly eject crumbs onto the counter top. Granted, this seems a common problem with toasters in general, however, it seemed extreme in the case of this toaster

Update: Shorted out after 4 months
Original review: The toaster is actually excellent at being a toaster. The fit and finish is good. It toasts well. I like the warming rack. The removable tray for crumbs works perfectly. My dissapointment is that it's further from white than the picture seemed. Off-white in the description wasn't as clear as I would have liked. It doesn't bother me enough to return it. However, you should be aware that if you have true white counters and cabinets, this will be very obviously not white. Hope this helps. Update August 2013: I used the toaster sparingly, perhaps once per week, over four months. Earlier this week I pushed down the lever and there was a big pop, sparks shot out, and it became a paperweight. Very disappointing. Still love the design, but can't recommend something that shorts out after 4 months.
