Superb cookware
These are, I in my most humble opinion, the finest pots you can buy. They're solid, beautiful (if you're into pots) and well designed. If cooking is your passion, you can do no better. The internal copper core does an outstanding job of spreading the heat evenly and the interior and exterior stainless steel cleans up easily. The pots are even dishwasher safe although you may need to use copper polish to restore the bright finish of the exposed copper band if you do use the dishwasher. Please note, the pots won't do the cooking for you so if you have no idea what you are doing in the kitchen, you can still burn dinner or turn out a lousy meal...but at least you will have done it evenly and in style! On the other hand, because they cook so well, they could make learning to cook or expanding your cooking horizons a joy. A couple final notes. 1) The pots are heavy. All-Clad definitely did not skimp on the materials. Fortunately, for the heaviest pots, they have a secondary handle on the lip of the pot to help you lift. 2) They are expensive. I looked everywhere and could not find All-Clad discounted. Even retailers that carry the line are careful to exclude All-Clad when they have their big sales. That said, Amazon's price is as good as any, and with Amazon Prime, the pots were delivered to my door the day after I ordered them (all 54 pounds in one box) for only $3.99. 3) These are heirloom pots. I had a hard time reconciling paying so much for the set until I realized that we'll own these pots for the rest of our lives and that when we're gone, our children will continue to enjoy them.

Yikes! So this is what super high quality cookware is supposed to be like!
Ok, we've had all levels of kitchen cookware over the years, usually purchased at one of the big box stores. It was all perfectly fine and did the job well. Then we started finding out about all of the stuff found in non-stick cookware and started shopping around and researching the kind of cookware that the pros use. We finally settled on All-Clad and zowie! what a difference. Yup, it's definitely not priced like the enameled, black, non-stick stuff that you can get anywhere. But, the quality is astonishing! This cookware will last us for a very long time and it is unsurpassed in heat distribution and ease of cleaning. The 5-layer copper and stainless steel makes the heat distribute evenly for every use, stovetop of oven cooking alike. We love it! I use a pinch of Bartender's Helper after wiping down a skillet and it looks like it just came out of the box! This 10-piece set is definitely an investment and if you learn to use it and properly heat it up before adding your food, you'll love it as much as we do!

Awesome Products at Great Value
I love these very upgraded All Clad Copper Core that were in great shape and new! This was a great price that no one else could match. You do need to heat them first (not too hot), then add oil, and cook. The eggs and pancakes still stuck so I purchased the nonstick versions for those purposes. Also, you need copper cleaner for the copper trim and the All Clad cookware cleaner for the rest of the cookware to keep them looking new. It has been a little more work to keep them looking new and not to destroy the copper trim, but they work great. So those of you that think the copper disappeared, use copper cleaner. That brought my copper trim back and removed the tarnish.

Probably the 5ply isn't worth the money but...
What a great Cookware set from all clad: Pros: 1. Heavy and solid: this thing is built like a tank, and will probably last me for the foreseen future. 2. No matter what I cook, it is possible to bring it back to 'like new' condition depending on how much work I'm willing to do on cleaning. 3. Unlike other materials, safe for use with whatever tools I wish, and whatever I want to cook. 4. Heat distribution: Great, and it shows. 5. Handle: stays cold during cooking, and also allows great grip. Cons: 1. From what I've read not much difference from the d3, so not a great value/cost as the d3. However, I knew that, and wanted it anyway (because 5 layers with copper is cool) because its a buy-for-life purchase anyway. 2. Heavy: Not as cast iron, but still heavy, and takes a while to get used to cleaning. 3. The copper ring: get to be tainted green very fast, and not worth the hassle to clean back. So while initially it looks cool, in practice, it's ugly on a day to day. 4. Learning curve: there is some learning to be done on how to use stainless steel instead of non-stick, but in the end it is worth it. 5. Rivets: they make it somewhat harder to clean near them, however in the long run they are worth it, since the handle will not come off.

Fantastic Cookware Made in America
When my 'green' non-stick pans started flaking 2 years ago, I started to research alternatives to teflon and the 'green' alternatives, which don't hold up to my cooking very long. My research came up, finally, with All-Clad, and it topped my personal preference because it is made entirely in the United States. In Pennsylvania to be exact. In an age of Walmart deals and Costco bulk buying, I really try to make thoughtful purchases and buy American. Yes, All-Clad is expensive, hopefully because American workers are getting paid a living wage to craft high-quality cookware. I received one 8-inch fry pan for Christmas that year and it cooks like a dream! I have never had a problem with food sticking (as one reviewer mentioned) because I read the instructions. Specifically those that say to preheat the pan on low for a minute or two, and to regulate all cooking to low-medium settings in general. The pan heats evenly, quickly and spectacularly hot, I mean that's why we're all looking at copper right? So you don't need to crank up the gas to high to cook your eggs anymore. For the reductions that do cling to the bottom, well, I found that a quick soak with hot water before washing lifted the majority of the food remnants from the pan's surface. When I saw this set was on sale I snapped it up! I'm very pleased to be able to replace my Made in China garbage and all a lot sooner than I anticipated. My last tip is for anyone with hard water: after I hand-washed my pan I noticed white hard water salt stains remained even after I hand dried it. All you need to get rid of these is a little white vinegar and a dry cloth. Pour a little in the pan and rub it in/off with the cloth. The stains will be gone and the pan will look as new as it did out of the box.

Just know what you are getting into....
**Updated: I finally learned how to use these pans without the sticking issues during frying. I found guidance on you tube. The key is getting the pan very very hot. Hot enough that the water "mercury balls". See this video [...] After getting the pan hot enough to "mercury ball" you add your oil or meat and turn down the heat to a medium low. Clean up is very easy if you do this correctly. Frying meat in this method gives it a very nice browning and flavor. Original Post: My wife got tired of replacing Teflon pans every few years and was concerned about the health hazards of eating the Teflon as it flakes off over time. Based on that, I looked for a new set and was drawn to the All Clad based on many positive reviews on the web. Everyone seems to love All Clad, except for me. My advice to anyone is to realize what you are getting and giving up when you go to an all metal pan from Teflon based products. In short, be prepared to scrub! These don't clean up as easily. The remnants of eggs done in All Clad seem to defy basic laws of adhesion. Your friends will be impress with your newer stronger arms after owning these. All kidding aside, the clean up is a huge difference than common Teflon pans. When you move from a Chevy truck to a Porsche, there will be more maintenance and maybe the same applies to these high performance pans. They look beautiful and are built to last, but will require more maintenance.

Great set, TLC required.
I'm a novice cook, probably have no business owning this set, but here is my experience. If you're buying these in a set for the first time, let me just say that buying barkeeper's friend to clean them is an absolute must and will only set you back $5. I used the 8" frying pan a few times first so I could get some familiarity with the TLC the set requires. First I had heat up the pan but I must not have given it enough time because the diced potatoes I put in there were sticking pretty good. Then I tried heating up the pan with the oil in it but had a lot of the same result. Each time I hand washed with dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. The mistake was you need to let the pan sit by itself until it's really good on and hot, on medium heat. I would recommend a temperature laser gun if you're anal like me, but obviously any good cook worth their weight in salt would just give it a quick hand-over feel. Then add oil and start your cooking. I had no sticking issues when done properly. So the inside of the pan didn't look terrible but it was obvious it had been used several times. Each time I hand dried and put it away. I ordered some barkeepers friend which immediately restored the shine of the inside. I can't see myself ever cleaning them without the stainless steel cleaner again. One note is that I must not have dried the copper band thoroughly enough, though I did make a deliberate effort to, because spots on the ring have tarnished and turned a darker brown color. It may be worth while to make a specific effort to dry the copper band by pressing your finger against a dry cloth and doing a full rotation on the pan. That being said, try to remember that they're pots and pans and meant to be cooked with and they're not collectibles. Don't obsess over their looks! Just clean them properly, dry them manually(especially the copper band), don't use steel utensils, but do remember not to treat them like pieces of jewelry because they're pots and pans at the end of the day!

Nothing but net!
This cookware is beautifully designed, easy to clean, and wonderful to cook on. I wish I had purchased this set years ago. Especially since my wife hasn't quit thanking me for purchasing them.

A good quality set but…
A beautiful quality set and the pans and saucepans are a good size. Having said that the lids are poorly designed as the get so hot they burn my fingers.

Beautiful and functional pans
These are the best pans we have ever purchased. They heat evenly and quickly. Expensive, but I expect them to be used by our children after we are gone :)
