Best office chair I've ever owned!
FIVE AND HALF YEAR UPDATE: Yes, I still have this chair and use it daily for many hours. Here's how it's held up. I haven't had any more parts replaced since the last update. I still say it's the best office chair of I've ever owned. It's certainly still in use longer than any office chair I've owned. The arms just will not stay tight. I find my self re-tightening them at least once a week, and even tight they still wobble a bit. That is probably the most annoying thing though. The leather in the bottom and back has held up great. No cracks or tears. Even on the arm rests has held up pretty well but starting to crack right on the edges. Honestly, if this chair had memory foam in the bottom I'd probably keep it another 5 years. I'd say overall I've more than gotten my moneys worth. I'll keep it around, but I'm in the mood for a new chair. I'll see what Serta has these days first. COMING UP ON TWO YEARS: I still say it's the best office chair I've owned so far, but the mechanical assembly again is going to need to be replaced under warranty. It's wobbly again, and pops very loudly every time you sit in it like it's about to break at any time. This will be the second mechanical replacement under warranty, we'll see if it goes as smooth as the first one. I also have a hard time still keeping the screws that hold the arms on tight. I tighten them at least every week if not more often. It's still comfortable however and so far is lasting longer than any office chair I've owned, and I've had many. UPDATE: I forgot to come back and update on the issue. Manufacturer replaced the mechanical assembly AND chair seat under warranty no questions asked! Bumping back to 5 stars. Gas pressure lift still working just fine. Since I have discovered they make wheels for office chairs that use the same wheels as inline skates. They are all over Amazon and I HIGHLY recommend ordering some, they are relatively cheap! I'll never own another office chair without putting those wheels on them. So much better than the plastic casters all office chairs come with and great if you have a hard floor! ONE YEAR UPDATE: 09/04/16: Original review below. I'm dropping a star pending finding out if I can get warranty honored. Just like every other office chair I've owned, the mechanical mechanism gets "loose" for lack of a better way to describe it, so it wobbles from side to side, and this chair has done that too. I posted originally hoping that the gas mechanism would hold up long term, and so far it has, but I've got to contact them about getting a warranty replacement for the mechanical assembly. Depending on how that goes, I may be back dropping more stars. Also, the chair cushion has flattened out quite a bit and not near as comfy as it was when I got it. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm a big guy, 6" 2' and about 290#. I have gone through a lot of chairs from the office box stores over the last 10 years. Even bought the big and tall versions they offered. They ALL failed. So much so I started buying the extended warranties offered just to get an exchange replacement in store. 90% of the time it's the hydraulic lift that fails. If it's not that, it's the mechanical part underneath getting wobbly. Padding never holds up. Based on the reviews here I bought this one, and yes its a lot more expensive, most expensive office chair I've ever bought, and it was totally worth it so far. Obviously I don't know about longevity yet, but it's the most comfortable chair I've ever had by several magnitudes. Assembling it, it was apparent the construction was heavier duty than any I've owned before, including the big and tall ones commonly found in the box stores. Make no mistake this is a heavy chair, you'll likely need help assembling it. It feels good and solid and comfy. My significant other is tall but skinny, only 120# and she even loves it so much she's thinking about getting one. We both work on our computers and spend a great deal of time sitting in these chairs, so you can't underestimate the value of a good, comfy, sturdy chair. There is one negative about it. I can't keep the arm bolts tight. I've found I'm having to retighten them nearly every day. I'm going to get some locktite on them and that should take care of it, they might consider including a little sample tube with the chair to put on those during assembly. But the chair is so nice otherwise I'm not even going to take away a star for that one.

Cheap and poor quality for a premium price
I've given this chair a good long run and now I'm writing my review after a year. I purchased the chair for $456, the most I've ever spent on an office chair. My first impressions were disappointment that everything is plastic. The armrests and the base are plastic! The chair has no adjustments, no lumbar, seat forward-backward, or tilt. You get height lever and a reclining lock. Chairs in this price range typically have many adjustments to accommodate different shapes, heights, and widths of people, this does not. The overall appearance of the chair proper was nice, it looked to be a leather chair with lots of cushioning and a "Serta" brand name tied to the design would lead one to believe it would be comfortable. Yes, it's comfortable, but leather it is not. I have purchased inexpensive genuine leather chairs from Costco, this chair is what they term "PU leather", which is a disingenuous name for fabric covered in a thin layer of plastic that has a leather grain molded into it. The plastic is coming off at the seams where you experience the most wear. The height of the chair is low and the stroke of the gas spring is short, which means that at full height the armrests are at about 28.5 inches from the floor. Typical office desk height is 29 inches, so the armrests are barely high enough to support your arms while typing. When assembling the chair I had to chase one of the 8mm threads because the insert nut was not threaded all the way through. A normal consumer would have returned the chair, and maybe I should have, but I needed a chair and pressed on. Later I found that the lower bolt on the other armrest was continually coming loose, even though they supply a thread locking compound on the bolts. I kept having to tighten the bolt when the armrest became loose because it was just tightening against plastic. The bolt finally "reached bottom" of the counterbored plastic hole in the armrest and I was finally able to secure it with some additional thread locking compound (this was the 3rd time I had the bolt out to remedy the looseness). I feel like all of the "money" was spent on the Serta name and "mattress comfort" aspect of the chair, none was spent on materials. I really feel bamboozled at purchasing such an expensive chair, especially since I was replacing a 10yo Office Depot "Maverick" chair which only retails for $269.

Comfy chair but limited height and features.
Just started sitting in this chair after assembly, the seat is very comfortable. Assembly was pretty straightforward and easy, getting the arms tightened down took a few tries, the lower bolt needed to be forced a little to pass a hard point. Once done the arms are pretty decent. The downside to this chair is the adjustments. Height adjustment is minimal and the max height seems to be low. This is not a tall person's chair, I am 5' 10" and it might be slightly too short. I would say the travel distance is 1 - 1/2" to 2" maybe for the height adjustment. The chair looks nice and is "Executive" in appearance. The feel of the cushion is great on the lower back and the air support works pretty well. I will update if I keep the chair, I'm giving it a few days before I make a solid decision. Updated Review: 7/26/2019 I'm still using this chair, I purchased a replacement piston that had more travel and was happy with it. The seat has held up pretty good for being a bigger guy. The only current complaint is the arms start to get loose after about a month and I have to go in and tighten them up. I still believe this is a decent chair, hopefully it will last a few more years!

Excellent chair!
Very comfortable, and is adjustable to the perfect height for me (6’2"). The casters on this chair are sooo good. Rolling around is effortless on a rug. Be sure to get hardwood-safe casters if you are using it without a rug or carpet. Assembly was a chore, but having a helper (spouse) made it easier and less annoying. I think it has decent value for money. My last chair was a Serta, which had fabric cushions. It was about the same price and lasted about 5 years until it started wearing out badly on the seat. After 7 years, I gave in and bought another one. The first replacement I tried was not good for me as it didn’t raise up high enough. This one is perfect. I think the only issue on this chair might be the faux leather eventually will disintegrate over time. I did get a cover for the back and seat but left the arms bare. Another thing is that this chair is a little resistant to leaning and tilting back. It seems to only tilt back when you really mean to, which could be a pro or con depending on the individual. I will update this review if anything changes.

Not a $400 Chair
The chair is comfortable enough and mostly well made. For a "big and tall" chair it mostly misses the mark. Like others have said, it does sit high on its lowest position. At 6' 3", this is fine for me and the seat is also wide enough. The seat back is not even close to being high enough. The top part comes in at the bottom of my shoulder blades. It was uncomfortable when I sat in it the first time. I did get use to it after some time, but I don't prefer it. The seat bottom is also not close to what measurements are given. Usable depth is more like 17 inches. The seat cushions seem well made and I feel that it will last for several years. However, the arms are extremely disappointing. For a big and tall chair I would expect something more durable. The arms are made of plastic (I was assuming metal), only mounted to two places per side, and they flex. They should really be made of metal, a loop instead of an open "C" design, and mounted by four bolts (two on the seat and two on the back) instead of two. I'll be surprised if the arms make it a year. The description here says max weight is 400 lbs, but when the box came, it clearly says max of 350. Not a big deal for me, but the description and what the seat accommodates should match so as to not mislead other customers. If I would of been able to see this on a showroom floor, I never would of bought it. Mostly because the arms are way under engineered for a chair that calls itself "big and tall". Oh well, when the arms break in six months I'll be able to shop for something different.

Well made chair
I have had the chair for about a week and I am impressed with the comfort and quality of the chair. The chair is sturdy and well padded. The back and lumbar support is very good. I am 6'2" and 240 lbs. and width and height is perfect for my body type. Most comfortable office chair I have ever used or owned. The chair arrived well packed and undamaged. Very easy to assemble....be sure to leave the screws loose when attaching the back of the chair to the seat. The loose screws allow easy alignment and installation of the arms. When the arms are secure, the other screws can then be tightened.

Uncomfortable and Wobbly
There is a lot NOT to like about this chair. I was very disappointed that this has the Serta name attached to it. I expected a supportive, comfortable chair. That is not what I received. 1) The cushion bottoms out. I am well under the weight limit for this chair. But after sitting for a few minutes I could already begin to feel discomfort in my tailbone. The cushioning is not good, and only marginally better than the chair I am trying to replace. After 1 full day of work in it, it hurt to stand. 2) The gas cylinder is not high quality. Again, I am well under the weight limit, but I can feel the gas cylinder sink whenever I sit down in this chair. 3) The arms are VERY difficult to attach securely. We had to turn the bolts until we thought they might break to get them snug. Then they worked loose after 2 days of use. 4) The seat does not feel ... solid. There is definite wobble in the seat plate. It isn't a LOT of wobble, but it is noticeable. I also feel like there is a tilt to the seat that feels like you are constantly being leaned forward and out of the chair. 5) Even with the tension adjusted to the lowest possible setting, it is not easy to recline this chair. It took a fair amount of force, and I cannot simply lean back in it to recline. The recline DOES NOT lock. The lock only works in the fully upright position. 6) The instructions state to simply reach under the seat to adjust the tension knob. Unless you are Elastigirl or Jack-Jack, you won't be able to do this. One, the knob is difficult to turn, and two, it is located in a spot that cannot be easily reached while seated in the chair. 7) There is no lumbar adjustment of any kind. This is a one size fits not everyone chair. Overall, this is an overpriced chair for the quality you receive. I returned a generic gaming chair that cost half what this chair did, due to poor quality. The replacement for that, was this. But this chair is only marginally better, and in some ways worse. 2 stars because it looks nice, and was easy to assemble. 0 stars for ease of use and comfort.

Great Buy. Getting a second one soon!
Since the star rating system is so limited I had to try to make this review fit in. This chair is very comfortable. I've had it assembled and in use since 5/15/18. I had it professionally put together straight from the box, and he performed an excellent job. The quality of the leather is good, for the price. The cushioning is fabulous! At 5'7", 238lbs, I use the chair for over 10 hours a day doing work. The short lift height is disappointing, but my feet rest properly on the floor. Tilting features are fair, and the rollers are pretty good. Folks at my job want to have one, and I tell them how to purchase their own. I even put a "tile" tracker in the arm, just in case my chair should ever WANDER off... Now, the five-star award earning - both arms have begun to loosen after just two days of use but are easy to tighten with a small hex tool that you can buy from any local h/w store for $5. Not doing hardcore gaming, office gymnastics or some made up test scenario. Just me working in my home office. I had seen some complaints from other customers before I bought this chair, but those opinions are not relevant to me anymore. I am going to purchase another one for my work office this week! 9/22/2018

Great for occasional lounging and work. Not for extensive daily all-day use.
This review is after 3 days of use. Generally I'm satisfied with this chair. This chair is a solid 3.5 star chair. Assembly took strength and close attention to the instructions but was overall pretty easy and took exactly 1hr from delivery to assembly. The arms do wobble but not a huge deal. Seat cushion has a seam that causes some minor discomfort in the thighs but other pluses such as lumbar support and overall sturdiness make up for that. Leather tends to warm up after extended use. Not recommended for extensive daily use. But perfect for occasional work/lounging. If you are looking for a chair you'll be sitting in 8hr a day what are you doing on Amazon in the first place? Get off your butt and test out a few chairs at the store and make sure it's perfect in every way!

comfortable chair
Very comfortable chair. I'm 5F9 and I found the headrest cushion is a little low, kinda annoying on the shoulders, but I got used to it, not a dealbreaker.

Chair defective
I bought this chair as a birthday gift for my son. However the chair came defective. It does not move up and is stuck on down. My son is tall so I decided to spend the extra money and get him a good chair for his long legs. Now I'm stuck with a broken chair that he cannot use and looks like I'm out 600 plus dollars. :( so upsetting

Not worth for money
I have purchased this chair in thought that this is sturdy and good comfort chair. I work almost more than 9 + hrs and does not feel comfortable using this chair, in same price range I suggest to buy something different. - Not easy to assemble - only one position adjustment - base seat foam already feel like gone, gives you feeling you are sitting on hard surface I do not recommend this chair.
