Q: Can i use this im my mac?

I don't have a MAC, but I'll hazard a guess. The connection between the keypad and computer is via a USB cable. But, the issue may be the software used to program the keys/macros. Since the macros are stored on the keypad and not the computer, you would have to use a Windows computer to program the keypad, and then plug the keypad into your MAC to use it. The software does not run on the MAC.

just checked, and besides being able to set up macros and use alt or shift to change keys that way, No, you just map them directly over to the sidepad with the downloaded software.

Yes, I use my Falcon with my keyboard and you can program a specific key with a macro, a keyboard key like ESC or keystrokes such as 'ALT 230' which is 'µ' and is what I use often.

Q: will it write permanent to the key so I can use it without software?

Yes, once the keyboard is programmed it can be moved to another computer.
