She is now seven. When I bought them, they were heavy and overwhelming for her. They are also very wide. As she is getting bigger and older they are less in the way and she is enjoying them. In hindsight, a beginning skater really benefits from ankle support, which rollerblades have in spades, and these have none unless you are strapping them on to some boots, I suppose. Being closer to the ground seems like it would be an advantage in stability, but I didn't notice it in practice.
