1 oz. doesn't sound like much, but it requires so little on the threads to make a seal. There is some separation of the solids and liquids in the tube, so be sure to knead the tube back and forth, with the cap on, to mix the liquids and solids, before each use. It only takes a little to make a seal. I used too much and it was still fine and clean up is easy. After making a couple of connections, you will get the hang of using less. Teflon tapes work ok too, but in an air compressor a small piece of tape can tear off in the air turbulence and cause problems down the line. This is good stuff.

I needed "pipe dope" rated at 1,000PSI to fix a stubborn leak in a Theoben gas ram air rifle. Local pipe joint compound was only rated to 125PSI. Without this product I would not have a functional $1,000 rifle. Applied to schrader valve core threads, then inserted into ram. Waited 24 hours to cure, then pumped up ram to 800PSI. Did not even need to use teflon tape!

This Oatey Great Blue Pipe Joint Compound performed flawlessly. As one of the other reviews revealed, I kneaded the tube for a couple minutes before opening it. I smeared it generously on the pipe threads and screwed the two pieces together. Tightened a half turn with a pair of channel locks and turned the water on.No leaks. Resealed the tube for many more connections, only takes a small amount.

Oatey refers to this as “non separating” but the first step in the instructions is to stir it because it separates. Why would I believe anything else that they say?

5 starts due to the fact that it was easy to use and worked. How about that, a product that does what they say it will do.

I give it 1because it did come on time,but the tube is very small,you will only be able to use it a very very small job,but it didn't work, it didn't seal anything, not worth the money

Does work, bit a bit wetter than needed

I had problems with a leaking shower head. I tried teflon tape, silicone sealant, nothing worked. This joint compound fixed the problem in seconds. I didn't even have to wait for it to dry (it doesn't actually "dry") - as soon as I screwed the shower head back on it was working perfectly. I haven't had a drip since. It worked so well, I redid the shower in my second bathroom as well (which also leaked, but not as bad). I will never use teflon tape again!

Used it for sealing a claw foot bath tub fitting and didn't work.
