The bag came packed full to the top, so it will last me a very long time. It's clean, with no smell, it's easy to shred into small pieces and there are no random rocks or sticks like I often find with orchid bark mixes. It's a great value and I recommend. Does this expand into chips or soil (like Eco-Earth)?** A: This one expands into chips just as shown on the picture/packaging illustration. If you are looking for a soil-like substrate go for Exo Terra Plantation Soil. **Q: Can this be used to repot a napenthes pitcher plant?** A: Not sure about napenthes pitcher plant, but I used it to repot my orchids (along with bark, and some other media). The coconut husk helps keep the moisture, but at the same time drains well. **Q: i soaked the coco husk. do i let it dry first? it seemed i had too much water, not sure how moist to leave it.** A: that depends on the humidity needs of your animal. In my climate, the child months are dry so I left it wet and mist it periodically. I also have arboreal animals that won't be sitting in wet substrate too. I'd squeeze it out in a towel (the color bleeds) or let it set out over night in a thin layer (cookie sheet?) It's easier to mist it wetter than dry it out once it's in the enclosure. **Q: Is this ground and smashed into a block or is it more chunked?
